The beauty of EVE Online is - we feel - the danger of it. The most basic of operations can suddenly turn deadly if you're not properly armed - or ready to run for it. It's that danger that we love; the unpredictability - the empires and fortunes that can (and do) change on a word. Today's One Shots comes to us from regular contributor CJ, who is known in EVE Online as Lucia. CJ writes in: Sometimes, we stumble across things we'd rather wish we hadn't in EVE. Good thing to know when it's better to run from a fight than see if you can rack up a couple of million ISK in buying new parts for your ship.
If you're part of a free-form role-playing world, we want to know what life is like for you there. Send in a screenshot of your MMO intrigues - or celebrations - to oneshots AT massively DOT com! Be sure to add your name, the name of the game, and a brief description. Yours might be next.

Never having played before, I just started the 21 day trial. I was very skeptical at first, but it's really beginning to grow on me.

Guild Wars and Eve are two MMOs that make awesome wallpaper-quality screenshots.
I'd still be playing Eve if it didn't have a subscription -- beautiful game and pic in the article above.

Personally I've seen this as a problem in both games.
In GW the environments are beautiful, but you can't go to most of the stuff you see. Those incredible castles you can see from all over the Lion's Arch area? I want to go there, and so many other incredible looking places you see all around! But you can't, it's all just a facade and much of the game is essentially on rails. After a while that really started to grind on me.
As for Eve, the first time you jump into a system and see that nebula it's pretty awesome. The 500th time you jump to a new system and see that same exact nebula over and over and over again? Not so awesome. While what there is in the way of graphics in the game is nice, you see the same exact things over and over and over again. For the badly out-of-scale marble planets and such, I guess it makes sense. But seeing the same backgrounds, the same Caldari ruins in every other deadspace mission, the same... Everything, everywhere? It gets real old, real fast.

I'd love to play this game as a break from WOW.
However did they fix that 'bloom causing high end graphics cards to melt' bug yet?
