Perhaps they could begin by calling it "Abuse Island." At least in this way people would know what they were getting themselves into.

I didn't really see a purpose to that venue. If it were me, I'd pull the plug on it TODAY. Newbies would be better off released into the wild than promised help in such an egregious and offensive setting.

As far as I am aware at present, only the community orientation setups are actively involved in new-user-experience improvements at present. Linden Lab's new-user-orientation shows little sign of attention currently.

Betina, quick question - was it one of the Help Island Publics you went to - to look for your Linden.

If so then maybe you should be aware that New users don't actually arrive at the Public Help Islands, there is a whole set of Help Islands that New Avatars arrive at and only Mentors/Greeters can teleport too. Once a new resident leaves there they cannot tp back.

Admittedly though- There is nothing in place to stop a griefer setting up a new avatar, arriving on one of the "New Residents" help islands and just sit there and cause problems, and that is something that LL maybe should try to counter (although in my experience it does not happen that often).

But then the newbies, or at least a certain percentage of them, are sent to the infohubs, and there they are heckled and abused by griefers.

Agreed, some of the Infohubs and some of the Welcome Areas are unpleasant experiences even for hardened Mentors, but not entirely sure what LL can do about that.

Of course she implied them, and indeed, this shines through her article. Neither she nor you can dance around this.

BTW, voting down comments to make them "invisible" is infantile. Deal with it.
