If you ask me World of Warcraft, Warhammer Online and Lord of the Rings Online all look the same too.

But they arn't with different gameplay mechanisims, lore, and theme. Probably the same with these F2P MMOs too. Each one has somthing unqiue and diffrent that other MMOs don't have thats why they play them.

"The kill 30, kill 40, kill 50, and kill 60 goals have been removed due to player feedback and an attempt to localize the game for North American audiences."

Haha, this is only proof that every Korean MMO is just a massive, shallow grindfest.

And you're right, soadsam. All Asian MMO's are exactly the same. I don't know why anyone even plays that garbage.

Your comments are based on a few notes you're reading around, and "guessing" what the game is like, and on some screenshots and such that make you think it looks the same. I've tried over 100 different MMOs, and I can definitely say that Ether Saga is one of the better ones, and doesn't play the same as the rest. Unfortunately it does get grindy, but they're doing things to try to reduce that, as you can see. Otherwise, it has a really nice story line and actual reasons why you are doing things for quests. There aren't so many "Go kill 50 rabbits because I feel like having you do it" - most things you are doing are tied into a storyline in some way so it feels more like a single player RPG in that you are following a real story rather than mindlessly killing things. It's translated really well too, so you don't have to deal with broken Engrish. A lot of them are the same, but this one has a lot of unique things in game that make it stand out from others.

Ether Saga Online is actually quite a good game. It has a pet system unlike any game I am aware of, where you can meld them to create new ones and even mutations. Pets fight along side of you and have their own skills. You can transform your character into various monsters and get the abilities and skills of the monster.

The graphics are very nicely done and the game engine is smooth, certainly better than the clunky Runes of Magic graphics. The sound and music are excellent. The English translations have been fine, although the NPC voices are still not translated, which actually gives it a nice atmosphere. I hope they either leave it that way or make it an option.

I haven't gotten into the higher levels where the grind seems to be and it looks like they'll be changing that for the western world. Even as it is now, the lower levels are less grind than LOTRO or ROM. The game is very quest oriented and even the "kill 10 of this monster" at least fit into the story.

Once you hit level 45 you are no longer safe from player killing and PvP starts to be a big factor.

The item shop is mostly cosmetic stuff, but mounts seem to be bound to the character, which isn't good. That wouldn't be such a problem it is was a bit cheaper, prices are a rather high, IMO. It also has a built in "bot" program which I'm not wild about, but there are a large number of players that seek characters using it and kill them if they can.

Most of all it is a fun little game, and while not perfect and with some features I don't like, it is pretty good. I just wish I had more time to play it.

Perhaps some of the people leaving stupid comments about games they clearly know nothing about would be better off actually trying them before spouting such nonsense.
