I mean 2 years between XIII and XV, which now that I think about it is probably a gross underestimate.

People that still don't have a ps3 and buying one now wouldn't be disapointed, there are gonna be more and more PS3 exclusive games and probably MMOs coming for the PS3. We already have Agency coming up soon, and Final Fantasy 14? Whats next... a metal gear mmo? XD

Now I'm REALLY interested to see Square's presentation at E3 tomorrow. I'm hoping they talk more about this and tell us whether this was the secret "Rapture" project or not.

I keep reading complaints about the 'androgynous' looking male characters. Just stop. Androgynous as they may be, it is a cultural style, nothing more. I'm sure Japanese people frequently complain about the western art style of our games that reach their shores. It's ignorant and wholly stupid to complain about artistic trappings when the actual content of the game is completely sound.

Personally I love the aesthetic of FF games, though it is easy in general to criticise the series for not varying the formula much over the decades, the art direction has always been outstanding... FFXI is still a really pretty game considering it was designed to run on the PS2.

I just hope and pray that FFXIV doesn't make the same mistake as FFXI and be unplayable outside of a group (though I would be more than happy for it to keep a much heavier group focus than WOW).

I wonder if there is any chance that they introduce something like the open skill system from the awesome FFXII (which was very much like an off-line MMO), balancing it would be a figgin nightmare, but it would be a really nice alternative to the class trees that every other MMO and his dog has!

I've played FFXI for 3 years and after seeing this announcement all I can say is

OH CRAP

now I have to decided to play this or SWTOR :S

one thing I'd like to see improved over FFXI is caracter customisation.
I got fed up of seeing 1/5th of the mithra population running around identicle to me :(

It's actually pretty appropriate that you mention SWTOR. At the E3 conference they were spouting all that crap about how they wanted to "add" storytelling to MMOs, like no one else did it before. Too bad that Final Fantasy XI had awesome storytelling and cutscenes, and that was several years ago.

Yeah the CS in FFXI were awsome its just the story often took a back seat to all the grinding, camping and farming.

Having played a lot of Biowares games I believe that multiple stories will probable unfold as and when you are leveling and questing.

But having said that Squares CS and stories are always something to look foward to.

So in the end it all depends which I want more

Lightsabres
or
Half naked mithras >.>

lol first off x-box can hardley handle the games it has out now lol and anyone that does'nt see this is very blind. i amnot saying it wont be released on x-box for that reason but in my eyes they should start making next gen games instead of thing you seen on ps2 i mean really all it is is a glorified ps2 with a 360 logo on it. as for the game square -enix is actually being smart they know ps3 has just begun the console wars and know ps3 will be around long after 360 is dead and gone. i meen lets be honest windows vs the best disk drive system in the worl not to mention the extra 2-300 hundred dollars you have to spend on your 360 to even come close to what the ps3 comes with lol a hundred dollars for wireless wtf is that and what are gamers smoking.

I always said I wouldn't pay the extra $100 to buy a PS3 unless there was an exclusive FF title on it...

Looks like I'll be purchasing my PS3 finally.

my prediction (always right btw):

1) Sony does a crap job with distribution and realizes it will fail even if EVERY ps3 owner got the game and subscribed and played every night.
2) Square will get pissed, when microsoft says, PCs cant run it unless you let the xbox run it.
3) Nothing says MMO success like restricting it to the most overpriced and least own'd console. Say hello to wow losing half its players, because asian ppl will love this.

MMO's do not belong on consoles at all and just like 11 its annoying they waste a roman numeral game as an mmo, just make it FF online and make 14 a normal RPG. With the extreme lack of regular RPGS these days we need it.
