I play Free Realms exclusively and have dropped all other games to play my new heavily bearded and messy haired man called Richard Trousers.

And when I say that, I mean it literally. I want to ruin a good thing with my perverted self-loathing. I can't stand the idea of kids having fun online, without inserting my own twisted world-view into every aspect of it.

Basically, I'm a douchebag asshole, and hate others having fun.

You Sir are not me and I don't know why you are such a Hater. I didnt even say anything unkind about your game.

I do in fact have a Free Realms character called Richard Trousers also. Do you think i would be able to give my opinion on a game if i never tried it? That would just be dishonest.

Furthermore imposter me with an O and not an 0. I have said many times Free Realms is a great kids game and I think that Kids should play it and have fun, its adults that rave about this like its targeted at them that have no kids themselves that freak me out. They are very immature, simple minded or are perverts its as simple as that. Apparently you are offended by my opinion and if so I'm sorry but I'm just as entitled to say what i think as anyone else. I'm not sure why people choose to flame me about it and not the dozens of other people that post on this site that feel the same way.

It's funny how Smedley likes to gloat about 2 million people registering to check out a free game, but he does everything in his power to hide the actual subscription numbers to its other red headed step children games he's not to proud of.

I hate WoW as much as the next person, but don't kid yourselves if you don't think Mr. Smedley would screw over and dump those 2 million registered Free Realmers for just 5% of WoW's subscription numbers that he's been coveting for years now. He'd dump them in a heartbeat.

I logged into Free Realms briefly to check it out. I am not sure if it i just my timezone or what, but all the servers say Low population and inside the game after traveling through a few zones, I have yet to see another player.

If there are 2 million players on this game, where are they? I can find people faster in WAR and that game has only a fraction of 2 million.

I played it for an hour at noon mountian time and saw 3 other players.

I also learned that I really hate loading screens and that free realms utterly failed to amuse me.

It might be a hit with the tweenage crowd but I'm betting that a LOT of the 2 million accounts are like me and will never be back.

I generally see lots of players running around the cities and starting area. I can barely move around without getting a few random friend invites.

I can't wait until this game launches on the PS3.
Games aimed at this age groups are severely lacking on the console market unless you have a wii and I am so sick of watching my son play little big planet.

Not sure why the WoW people have made is necessary to compare freerealms numbers and those of WoW. Seems kind of pointless to me. In six months freerealms will have far more than 12 millions unique users registers, big deal. The two can't really be compared.

No, Blizzard won't be "afraid" of the game but they will bleed some subsriptions because of it and they are probably the subscriptions they want the most. Super casual social players that aren't constantly demanding more content because they burn through it two weeks after launch of a new expansion.
Every MMO is going to bleed subs from this game.

Its apples and oranges. Freerealms is Free-2-Play, World of Warcraft is not.

I re-logged in just a few minutes ago. In the daytime I found 2 other people walking around, but in the cart races there seemed to be other players ( I think they were other people )

So everyone is in instances I guess.

For those that say corporations can't fudge their numbers - are we saying corporations have never done such a thing? Enron anyone? Regardless, posting revenues is one thing, posting actual subscription numbers is a completely different thing. So, Tyranor, it's VERY much possible. Even if someone INSISTS it's not, there are never any solid numbers posted or the regions the numbers are in etc. They seem to be used for marketing purposes only and while probably based on some numbers out there (12 million accounts including canceled subs probably) they are still not 100% clear.

The 75% under 17 gives me pause. That's all right to target the youth market, but I don't see people considering Club Penguin, Maple Story, Habbo Hotel, and Gaia Online serious MMOs for doing the same thing. Nor do I see them covered in Massively.

TBH, Massively really should start covering those games, as they are making a whole bunch of money. Blizzard is really not the only one that is doing well in this space.

And to the people that posted troll posts that followed Hardy's topics almost word for word, do you realize how stupid you look? Your idiocy is astounding!

And does it *really matter* what the numbers are? Just because Blizzard is publicaly traded, doesn't mean their numbers are any more or less accurate. PS. Did you *really* think Sony isn't publicly traded?

@Lewisham

I didn't read anywhere where a poster thought SONY was not publicly traded. The numbers are important just for truth in advertising, if nothing else. Taking a company's word for it on how many poeple you are going to be playing with shouldn't be good enough.

"10 Million people are now playing and loving my new game FlimFlam Online Adventures"

Kid: Oh well it must be pretty good, I'll go buy it

2 weeks later

Kid: This game sucks and nobody is online.

I'm not saying this is the case with Free Realms at all, but it COULD be, there is nothing out there preventing this kind of fraud at all, there is no watchdog media verifying squat coming from the marketing departments of these studios.
