We're always happy to hear about a game expanding into a new territory, as it's a good indicator of a title's strength. Russian gamers can now participate in the open beta for the free-to-play fantasy MMO Runes of Magic, and that's also a very good thing. We're sure they're already dual classing to to their heart's content.
As with the English and German betas, characters won't be wiped after the open beta ends -- something that we're happy to see continuing with Runes of Magic. Out hats off to Frogster for that call, too.
So what's next for Runes of Magic? We're sure they'll continue to expand their user base as the months go by, but by the measure of their expansion it wouldn't be too surprising for a different kind of expansion in the future. That is to say, we're sure some interesting content expansions are somewhere down the line.

Now seeing ever growing number of localised MMO's I wonder if the developers see a market opportunity or if they simply want to keep the community away from the English speaking servers as it pollute communication channels with a foreign language.

Who knows. I do know that I haven't found even one of these FTP games (or any Asian made mmo) to be worth the bandwidth it takes to download them though. They are all the same drivel with different skins in them. They actually make me think of the B action movie explosion of the 80s and early 90s. But at least some of them where mildly entertaining which I can't really say for any of these Asian mmos.

I don't mean this as a bash at RoM directly. But it's a lot easier for a f2p to change their localization. They don't quite put the care into it that commercial games do. Not only is a large chunk of text usually "engrish" there arent many voice overs that need new actors etc.etc.
