Look, another item-shop Asian grinder! Yay, time to go make another big-eyed, over-sexualized, 12 year-old anime girl or effeminate/androgynous, anime elf-boy and run through candy land slaying 10 billion wolves and turnip creatures with my overly flashy yet incredibly repetitive skills in order to get to level 3,000, all the while spending real money on incredibly over-priced yet conveniently fundamental "optional" item-shop loot like XP boosts, potions, armor, and mounts! WHOOPEE!

See Darkfalls ""release"" for a good example of why NOT to allow characters to transfer out of a game in beta. (Or in Darkfalls case unofficial paid beta that the devs call "Limited release")

Yeah, and see LotRO for a beta where it worked well. Horses for course, pal.

Does anyone who has actually played the game (and is not just rampantly speculating) have any thoughts on this title? I've always loved steampunk games, and I'm not adverse to asian-styled artwork.

I love steampunk, and I'm not averse to manga-style visuals.

That being said, the game is rubbish. :/ Hardly steampunk at all, and the UI and graphics are both archaic to the point of being unbearable. I played it for a few hours and promptly uninstalled. Makes me sad, but eh, that's about what I was expecting from yet another grindfest Asian MMO.

Ah - thanks for taking the time to check it out and report back - much appreciated.

I guess I'll have to wait for Gathryn to get my steampunk fix.... tho all the talk about "casual" and "minigames" on their site worries me.

It's common for free-to-play games to keep the characters from open beta once the game goes to full release. It's strange this article would point it out, as though it were some new, fantastic thing. Oh and +1 for the Asian grinders comment.

Awesome move, now they can attract people who just want to grind through content as quickly as possible to get to the end, instead of actual testers who will go through content in depth AND simultaneously make life tougher on anyone who doesn't join the game until it goes live.

If anyone needs me, I'll be over here, watching Gatheryn.
