Like a lot of people, I'm really looking forward to seeing this go live. But I question how realistic their intention is for a June launch when the Beta hasn't even started. This is also a sentiment shared by the JGE forum community and which is stated regularly.

Their goal of not shipping til they are completely happy with final product is all well and good, as are a lot of the comments I've read about system requirements and acceptable ping times. I also can't deny that having another MMO out there that ISN'T all orcs, elves and stabby stabby is a godsend until SW:TOR is released.

The more I read about this, the more excited I get. I just can't shake the feeling that I shouldn't get too eager about this until I see it on my monitor.

Just FYI to Korriban, I really doubt there'll be a release in June. Both Newegg and EBGames have just recently changed their estimated release dates for the preorder to the first week of September. I was really hoping to find a non-hardcore PvP alternative to Warhammer this summer. It looks like I'll be in Mythic's clutches all summer. I just hope JGE and/or Aion will be more fun for me.

Ergh, again... PvP... *sigh*

Was really excited about this game, and then 2 things stopped that.

1) PvP
2) No cockpit view

When you master the simple basics of punctuation, capitalization and simply the ability to type without seeming like a complete moron, I'll take your viewpoint into consideration.

No cockpit view?? You are kidding aren't you?

I am sure I have asked about this several times over the past 18 months and was assured there would be......

Hold on, before I spread complete disinformation and blatant lies, I've checked up again. I seem to recall one of the devs saying a cockpit view simply wasn't a priority.

I checked again and found this article: http://vault.ign.com/View.php?view=editorials.detail&id=260

From that and a few others, it seems that they are amicable to the idea of having cockpit views, but it's not a very high priority for them. It's highly unlikely to be in at launch and might (at best) be added in an update after launch.

So I guess it's wait and see.

From what I gather, JGE isn't a PvP-centric game. It's there but it's not like Darkfall where it's the game's core "content."

I read a preview though that made it sound a bit "boxed-in" - you know, like Guild Wars, where there's a kind of hub of players and you go off to do missions in instances. I hope that's not the case.

From the interview it looked like JGE is going for a similar system to Spellborn, e.g: some zones will not be flagged for PvP, some will be. He [Scott] also mentioned that crafting may require going into flagged zones and defending your cargo ship from players until it can harvest the necessary items.

I think that the main issue of contention here is whether or not the PvP will be truly unavoidable and not detract from the quality of the game-experience should a player choose not to PvP.

I definitely need to do more reading to figure that out.
