Great write up!

And yes, the LL staff involved with Bay City at this point have been amazingly supportive., helping us to a flea market event, working on the hubs, and providing a lot of support for the events this weekend.

Speaking of zoned areas, how about Nautilus Island or whatever it's called (as opposed to Nautilus continent where I live)?

Are there any zoned areas other than these two?

Yes Nightbird. Several regions were created with a theme in mind. Bay City completes one of three in that area in fact: Nova Albion to the east of it which includes Sistiana, Grignano, Miramare, Barcola, and other regions was created with modern downtown in mind AND was the first double-prim community. It too has a great deal of Linden waterways and parks. North of them (over an expansion bridge) is another themed area we call Shermerville, which are several regions set as a suburban residential area, with Linden land for streets and sidewalks. Check it out :) It's all near eachother on the map.

I dont know whether Nautilus has a community group of residents. We never hear about them as we do with Nova Albion. Shermerville residents are talking about reviving one.

I think the future of bay city is looking promising. It was half expected it would get off to a rocky start as it was the largest planned community attempted by LL (until nautilus etc) and SL had changed enormously since they had last done one (Shermanville, Nova Albion etc). Land speculation was bound to happen as that was the pace of the current land business. Land barons are use to being able to buy full sims of land and subdivide and sell at a higher price for having the capital to put down that most people dont. I think the old parcel format threw a lot of speculators off, especially with the uniqueness of the land which left prices much higher with barons bidding against people who wanted the plots for their own use. It is nice to see the speculation slow down and community and business development take over.

The older planned areas such as Boardman, Brown, and De Haro have had success in the past only when a dedicated group of residents has watched over them. So it is great to see the alliance gaining momentum and making positive changes around.

Thanks for the write up Tateru! A lot of great things have been happening in Bay City due to the Alliance group. I'm really very proud of all the hard work they've put in over this past year and their dedication to Bay City. It's amazing to see.

Nautilus City does indeed have their own alliance group modeled after the BCA and they are actively planning a major event for this June. Stay tuned!

Blondin is correct...the Nautilus City Alliance has been set up and most of Nautilus City's parcel owners are members. The Nautilus City Alliance is modeled on the very successful Bay City Alliance.

While we are much younger than our friends in the Bay City Alliance, we are already hard at work planning our first Nautilus City Annual Summer Festival. The two day event will take place on June 13 and 14. Since we have residents from several RL continents we set the dates to minimize major holidays or weeks when large numbers of RL people take off for extended vacations.

LL has been extremely supportive in planning this effort. Like Bay City, many of the important structures are on LL land. We hope to make use of these beautifully developed and themed areas for the Summer Festival.

Congrats to the Bay City Alliance for their hard work in leading the way. It looks like the parade is hugely successful and follows on the info hubs and flea market.
