Best answer EVER.
Hmm - now I have to resist the temptation to actually go through with that...

I am thinking along two different paths at the moment.... I am a huge fan of the Tick so either ProtoClown or the ultimate nemesis.... Barry.

First of all, this feature is quite possibly one of the coolest features in a MMO I can think of.

My arch-nemesis is going to be a tiny, scrawny guy. He is going to look meek and powerless. Maybe he will be bald and have glasses on. I don't want him to be the "cut-and-dry" enemy. I want to question why I am fighting him. His name will be something simple, like Roger, or Franklin. Something that is far from intimidating.

His powers? He will probably do something with dark matter, dark energy. Something VERY evil and menacing that is very far from what his image portrays. I want a bit of irony when I battle a tiny dork that is slinging massive bolts of dark energy at me and calling his evil minions to assault me haha.

Come on...
Evil has nothing to do with the powers you wield. It's how you use them !
So, dark energy may or may not be evil. Of course, it LOOKS evil (I mean, hey, it's DARK !), but that does not make a dark energy user evil by itself. If you really want to be original (which we can see you're at least trying) play your whole "not looking that menacing" thing to the end ! A petty looking nemesis is probably of the "mastermind" type, using minions to pursue his ends (and if that's possible, having them explode to your face, now THAT would be one step closer to evil).

I play a speedster, so I'm thinking of loading the nemesis up with as many slow powers as possibly. Probably ice and hold abilities. Because when I think of a villain who can pose a great challenge to a speedster, I think of one that can slow him or her down.

In CoH I have a character who's sister was incredibly intelligent and accidentally gave my character lightening powers during an experiment. The sister doesn't have any powers herself, but she constructed a robot suit that is very strong, and has gone crazy. They have become arch nemesis.

Probably going to bring that storyline along.

Good question. I suppose it is a toss up between the zealot Mac-Fanboy who posts constantly on Engadget comparing everything with Apple. He'll appear in the world, compare me to an Apple product, then try to pontificate me to death. I shutter already. Crap, now I am going to have nightmares tonight.

Or a spork.... Mutant hybrid thing from hell.

I just started City of Heroes, because I couldn't wait for Champions or DCU online so I'm not sure if I'm gonna get into either of them. I do like the Nemesis idea, and would really love it if you could create more than one villain. But I guess that wouldn't be the point of having a Nemesis.

I would definitely want him to have an advantage over my character in terms of powers. I wouldn't do polarizing powers (ice vs fire) as then it just becomes a matter of strength of the said powers. I want my Nemesis to exploit my weakness. So he/she might have sorta power that I really can't deal with, probably some dark matter or magic.

As for visual, I'm thinking anthropomorphic or alien looking. Probably dressed with a cape or long coat as a poor disguise hiding a star trek/military inspired uniform. I'll be sure to make my Nemesis absolutely lethal with conventional weapons (gun, knife, or maybe a sword). Plus I think villains look more threatening when they have a weapon as opposed to just being energized in some way. Dark matter with a knife sounds menacing. I might add a cybernetic arm or hand.

Obviously I got a lot of ideas. :D

lulz yea, you'll get into one of them. CoX is 5 years old... one look at those new juicy pseudo-cell frame animations and ridiculously cool looking spell effects and Cryptic's old game will feel like playing.....

personally my nemesis is going to be evil hannah montana, mostly cuz i want to punt her off of rooftops. she'll of course have a goatee and will use her powers of suck to attempt to thwart me in my endeavors.

I was so looking forward to this game until I saw its going to be like guild wars with everything being an instance instead of servers. That sucks. THis is why I stopped playing guild wars and why I won't play this game. Who wants to be alone in an instance?
