You can already buy & download NCsoft products - including microtransactions - online via the NCsoft store, so what exactly do they need Steam for?
Assuming one is not going to undercut the other, I don't see what this offers beyond having NCsoft products advertised on Steam - unless they plan to close the NCsoft store soon.
Considering the NCsoft store prices for all of their old games are quite horribly uncompetitive with online retailers, this doesn't seem like a great money maker for Steam.
Personally this would be my last avenue of purchase for an MMO; I don't see any reason for exposing ANOTHER layer of potential game thwarting...
Rely on Steam being up > rely on account server being up > rely on game server being up.
Nope; I use and like Steam, but I don't understand this initiative and cannot say I'd make use of it given any other option.

And no matter if Steam is great or not, it's still more exposure for the game which will mean more sales. It makes sense regardless if you see it or not.
