There are lots of people playing this game and going by he general chat nightly, most of the newer players are from WoW and finding this game to be a lot more exciting that collecting tabards, non combat pets and reputations for no real purpose

Combat responsiveness is spot on, game is playing well overall, lots of new stuff being added regularly, and oh yeah, there's real PvP. :P

Listen, you don't like it, fine. I've been very critical of WAR at times as well, but it's definitely improving. It's not perfect, no MMO is, but I find actually engaging in real PvP more interesting than PvE grinding lootz in WoW.

WAR isn't real PvP. It's PvP is better than WoW's but not by much. It is improving I will give you that but it isn't improving in the spots that matter. The game is still boring, repetitive, and shallow. You fight the same fights at the same keeps/BO you do the same city PQ's over and over, and PvE is still the fastest way to advance your gear. The side with the most numbers is the one that wins. etc etc.

Sorry but WAR needed an Endgame overhaul before beta even finished and here we are 7-8 months later and they still haven't touched it. This "expansion" is a bandaid at best. The gear isn't better than the city sieges so if your server is farming cities it isn't much of anything. It also proves once again that PvE or RvE is still the best way to gear up in WAR which is supposed to be a RvR/PvP game.

Just some words.

Keep Upgrade system - lots more challenge, better keep defences, etc.

"PvE is still the fastest way to advance your gear"
think again...

"The side with the most numbers is the one that wins. etc etc."
yes of course, when you in a pug. but, if you fight in a pre-made warband or with your guildies, a well managed warband can strike like a hammer in any situation, no matter how many enemys you have to face.

another stupid sentence.
"The gear isn't better than the city sieges"
no, the new sets will be much more better then the Conqueror or maybe the Invader. only the Warlord and the Sovereign sets will be better. but those are really rare atm.

Sorry, but WAR's PVP is leaps and bounds better than WOW's. WOW has entire classes that are useless in PVP. Every class in WAR has a purpose, and can be very effective in PVP.

really...you should just check it out and see before closing the door on a great game.

When I went online this morning to check my blog stats, the numbers had suddenly skyrocketed from yesterday. WIth some investigation, I see that my bud, Brooke was the culprit behind the sudden traffic! Cheers Brooke! ;)

As for those of you poo pooing WAR - I say give it a try. I think the main reason people hate PVP is they only have WoW to base their experience on. Not an adequate example in my opinion.

WAR has evolved a great deal since release and I'm seeing more and more new people joining and being surprised by how fun it is every day.

I already played the trail and did not like it one bit the starter arena was designed like a box houses I was playing a sun knight or what ever it called no one was talking in the chat and I did feel lonely after level 4 or so I join a event battleground.... but the slow combat was too much for me the other players just keep killing me and I got 1 kill I think but it was so unclear like the achievements did keep popping up! Anyway it was no fun starting out as a low level and have to do some grinding quests and hate the combat system. And next too that I did buy age of conan when it did come out and you known how that turn out I think...

I got 3 level 80s in wow right now! A Deathknight/Paladin/Warlock that still are a lot of fun to play! And not a lot of money for 30 bucks I can raid with my friends and family for 2 months or play a game that is mostly base on pvp and does not bring anything new that WoW does not have right now for like 40 bucks for one month like a low level.

In warcraft I really started injoy Wintergraps after 3.1 and the dubble specs allow me to tank heal on my Paladin what is really fun now. (still the swift thing got bugs).

"Keep Upgrade system - lots more challenge, better keep defences, etc."

Still the same exact keeps that play out the exact same way. Also most of the time when a keep is defended the zergs skip it for another undefended keep. Thus we have RvE. Don't get me wrong. The whole upgrading keeps thing would be awesome if the base keep system wasn't awful.

"yes of course, when you in a pug. but, if you fight in a pre-made warband or with your guildies, a well managed warband can strike like a hammer in any situation, no matter how many enemys you have to face."

Yeah you take your 1 WB up against 5 WB and see how well you fair in an open field battle. What happens when your guild isn't on? The other side still has more numbers and with those numbers they have more manpower to cap things around the clock.

"no, the new sets will be much more better then the Conqueror or maybe the Invader. only the Warlord and the Sovereign sets will be better. but those are really rare atm."

They are actually sidegrades to annihilator->Warlord basically this dungeon is the AQ40 for WAR. Sidegrades and a few upgrades near the end.

"Sorry, but WAR's PVP is leaps and bounds better than WOW's. WOW has entire classes that are useless in PVP. Every class in WAR has a purpose, and can be very effective in PVP."

I will give you that WoW has problems with certain specced classes not being able to PvP as well as others. However last I checked they are doing the dual spec system. WAR also has problems with certain classes being useless(or feeling that way) like the zealots/RP and Magus.

However the PvP is not leaps and bounds ahead. At least in WoW you could counter your enemies but in WAR it is mostly button mashing regardless of what your enemy is doing. Not to mention that Original AV(Landmines, Korak, aerial unities, 24+ hours battles, etc) is 1000x funner than what WAR has brought to the table. This is Tier 4 I am talking about here....Tier 1-2 are pretty fun.as far as PvP goes.

Honestly I think you guys need to go play AION or heck even The Chronicles of Spellborn to see what fun PvP is like because both WAR and WoW are well below them in PvP.

The thing that bothered me most about WAR, is that I didn't feel immersed. It didn't pull me in. The Graphics were horribly bad and painful to the eyes (yes I've played WAR actively for 2 months and my pc was high-end(9800GX2, E8500,4gig800mhzRAM) when WAR released) and didn't improve much. The only way of getting experience, without getting utterly bored, was to do scenario's, which eventually resulted in boredom, because Order always picked the same scenario in the 20-30 Bracket (the one with alot of lava and the overpowered amount of knockbacks on order side).

So you had boring PvE, even more boring than WoW's. Boring Scenario's, in a way more boring than WoW's PvP, although I admit that WAR was tactically more innovative and effective, if properly played with your guild, or a decent pug.

WoW's PvP has more going for it these days. Resilience is no longer a necessary thing in BG's (although probably still in Arena), so all classes are viable and can perform their PvE rolls in PvP. With dualspecs, a player could choose to have his secondary spec a PvP spec, so nothing stops people from actively participating in PvP.

A few new BG's are in my opinion properly executed (including Wintergrasp). It's still true that some classes last longer than others, but this also depends on player skill (quite similar to WAR).

So all things considered, you'd expect the one thing to make a difference, to be RVR, but when I played, there was no RVR. Sometimes someone decided to attack a keep, sometimes this eventually resulted in a wb assaulting a keep and eventually overtaking it, but in general, RVR was empty, besides the few hardcore PvP'rs, that eventually also gave up.

In the end, it amounted to giving in to my feeling. I tried every single class/race combination, but each of them resulted in the same empty feeling. It felt like a "tournament" with no end, going from scenario to scenario from bracket to bracket. PvE felt dull, Publics felt dull after a while as well. Especially when you notice the difference between the really great Publics and the really, really!, lousy ones. When Wotlk released, I have to admit, it felt so much better than WAR and I haven't regret going back to WoW even one bit. Which, by the way, has nothing to do with being a moron.
