I don't think it matters what age verification system LL puts in place; they're all easy to defeat for cheaters. In RL underage people get into adult clubs all the time. However, the reliability and performance of any verification system concerns me; if I go to the trouble to verify (I already did when LL first launched the current system) I expect it to work seamlessly and reliably.

Working 100% isn't really LL's concern, I think - cover-your-ass is.

Same reason movie theaters don't generally allow children into R movies despite there not being a single law regarding the matter in the US; it keeps people from complaining as much.

I would think that LL's main concern is to cover themselves as much as possible.

Somehow, I can't help but think how easier it would be, and not as controversial, if they thought about this at the start. Then again, most businesses have a tendency to wait for inconvenient times to make a change that angers everyone.

If I turn my account down to PG, and then try to access a mature/adult region, I would like to see a message box saying "hey, your account doesn't allow you to access a mature region." with the options

[x] ok
[ ] allow access to this region until i log out
[ ] add region to exception list
