SOE has Fan Faire and WoW has BlizzCon, but could a convention centered around Lord of the Rings Online (or all Turbine games, for that matter) evoke enough interest? Many fans seem to think it's about time they had their own company- or game-specific con as a place to meet others who enjoy the work Turbine has done with LotRO, DDO and Asheron's Call. Perhaps the biggest advocate is a blogger by the name of the LotRO Follower, yet the original idea came from Moormur at the LotROCast podcast. Other members of the LotRO Blogging Collective have thrown in their own two cents, like The Middle-Earth Adventurer who makes the point that it doesn't have to start off large, as in time it will grow.
So as the general MMO-playing public, we'd be curious to hear what you have to say on this subject. Have the success of the other topic-specific cons shown that it can be done with others, or should Turbine fans just get together at other major cons like Dragon Con, PAX or GenCon?

Now? No. As soon as they announce Harry Potter Online? Yes.

How bout a TurboCon? It may expand the LOTRO theme a bit more and allow for a venue for showcasing new releases. That, my dear, may work.

It's already been done. I believe it was in Connecticut a couple years back. Or maybe Providence?

It was in Providence,Lotro Source(where are you guys,Methost & Aranae and Naurki and EP from Arda post?) was still up and running.I was far away(and still is) in the middle of the Indian Ocean but was able to follow the event as Lotrosource aka Methost live streamed the whole thing.
That was good times and we had high hopes for Lotro then.

If SWG can still hold its convention as part of FanFaire for their 11 players, I don't see why Turbine wouldn't be able to.

Back when Lotro was still in Beta they held an Annual Con just for Lotro that had a small (compared to others) turn-out but they still did good. They did games and contests, one of my kin members went one year and won a free copy of the game before it was released.
I have been waiting for them to announce they were going to start doing it again as it would be an easy way to get members of my kin together in real life for the first time.

The UK publishers of Lotro, Codemasters, held an event last March called Connect8 which although theoretically was for all of their MMO's pretty much focused on Lotro (and a little Jumpgate Evolution).
Indeed, it was at this event that Turbine officially first announced the Mines of Moria expansion to the world so I'm surprised Massively don't remember it...

If CCP can have its own convention in Iceland for EvE Online, so can Turbine.
