This sounds like an old school adventure game with real time combat; Myst with guns say. And that sounds great as a single player experience, but how do you make it something more than an otherwise single player adventure game with co-op? What worries me is the emphasis here on interaction with the world - fighting npcs, figuring out puzzles, investigating the lore - and little to nothing on what the introduction of other players brings to the experience.

One idea would be to implicate other players in the backstory as well. Randomly assign players lineages that intersect with the lore and which emerge over time. Investigate a cave with certain players and you might stuble accross something uniquely relevant to your party members. Perhaps you get an ingame mail one day with instructions that lead to an invitation to a secret society, one that is secretly opposed to the allegiances of some of your friends in game. Hope to see something unique from this game.
