Yes, I completely agree. Mechwarrior would make for an awesome MMO universe.

Warhammer 40k is the only one I really want. It's a grimdark universe full of non-stop action an a massively rich heritage! To not include it in your list is practically criminal!

Didn't someone obtain the rights to a Firefly MMO? There's a fan site already dedicated to it, lol. http://fireflymmo.com/

Mechwarrior or Robotech are both in dire need of their own MMO. Robotech certainly has enough back-ground to keep it really interesting.

Please if there is a cyberpunk MMO could Keenu Reeves be kept as far away as possible. He has made some really dire cyberpunk movies. Go back to Gibson books or use Cyberpunk 2020, but leave any Hollywood botch jobs as far away as possible.

Firefly MMO might actually attract some non-MMO types as a lot of libertarians are really keen on that show.

Sins of a Solar Empire, Mass Effect, BSG, Battlelords of the 23rd Century, and if done right, Transformers.

Your list sucks.

Out of those five, only Starcraft Online jumps out at me. The cyberpunk thing's been done, and done well. It was called Neocron, and it rocked, but it proved two things: (1) there is no market, (2) therefore there is no money to maintain a cyberpunk game. Sign me up for a lifetime subscription, though, if they ever make a Girl Genius, Buck Godot, or maybe even Buzz Lightyear MMO that doesn't suck. Although, like most people, I care more whether a game is fun or not than I care what IP it's based on.

Well, i don't think that many of those are that interesting.
For me there are several IPs asking for an MMO.
Battlestar Galactica in the time of the 1st Cylon-Human war would be an obvious one.
Mass Effect is screaming for an MMO, (but that IP is so well constructed that it can also spawn a great strategy game - it has great vehicles and a detailed organization). Transformers is another one i can remember. With all this 80s nostalgia and the movies it would reap great profits if done right (great PvP of the Decepticons against the Autobots).
These are just a couple that come to my head.

OK nobody ever remebers how awesome it was... But He-Man and the Masters of the Universe screams "game world" to me... It's the perfect combo of sci-fi and fantasy. With tons of back story and fun npcs.

There can be only one! Highlander would translate excellently into an MMO.

I just hope the voice acting is more convincing than Christopher Lambert's.

as stated in several previous posts
TRON ftw

I have never heard anyone mention Mad Max, but that could be cool, like a Burnout MMO between towns with thunderdomes and that sorta thing

With mention of Robotech in another comment (using the lore of the books pls) one immediately begins to think of other (familiar to americans) anime that could work. Star Blazers? Gundam? Ghost in the Shell? Cowboy Bebop? Steamboy? Wolf's Rain?

as a follow up, I think Sunrise Inc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunrise_(company) would do well to prep their IP for MMOs. Many of them deal with large conflicts involving many "players" perfect for MMO translation.

I also forgot to mention one more IP I think would be awesome: Rise of Legends http://www.riseoflegends.com/worlds/ that would be oh so sweet
