I'll save you the trouble EA/Mythic; leave my name off of your mailing list, I've gone back twice = I'm done. Maybe when your game is more then running from BO to BO, Keep to Keep, over and over and over again I'll reconsider.

Just did this... Got billed for 1 month rather than 10 free days, on phone waiting for CSR

I'll pass for now then.

From the official FAQ:

Why do I need to enter in my credit card?

A credit card is required for verification and billing purposes. If you are concerned about recurring billing charges, please visit the Account Center to cancel your account before your gift of 10 free days of game time expires.
--------

You should not be getting charged to try this 10-day free re-trial, so contacting a CSR is the right thing to do.

Also, this is from the original page I linked to:

"No purchase is required for the 10 free days, which begins upon reactivation. You may cancel at any time during your free play, after which the normal billing cycle will begin."

The email says that you get 10 free days when you reactivate your old account. Not a bad deal if you're thinking of reactivating, but if you were hoping to get 10 free days without being billed you're out of luck.

Massively mentions that you need to reactivate near the end of their article. The Mythic email mentions the 10 free days 3 times and every time has "reactivate your account" right next to it.

Just read the FAQ. They are quite clear that if you don't want to be billed, you need to cancel your sub right away so that a charge does not go through.

If they can't get that right, that is one thing, but if their account management is working, then just subscribe to the 10 days, immediately cancel, and get playing.

I do want to try it again, the game has a lot of promise, yet somehow I won't be surprised if it turns back into meh meh and more meh.

Unfortunately the only class I can play with the bonuses is the one warrior priest I made. New characters will not get enhanced xp. If you quit while playing a career you don't like, you are out of luck.

I will say it now..

We will see next month they increased the subs by over 100k because of this wonderful email...

Like I've said before, it's not the money that keeps me from coming back, it's the time that I don't have to waste on a game that's 4 years behind the competition.

Sigh... and here I just re-sub'd a week prior. I suppose I should have known.

I might try it out again (if I'm bored) but I'm more of worried if they fixed the issue for where certain people couldn't even log in, and would have to use a proxy.

Once again Europe is neglected, no Forums, no 'Welcome back' Trial. Mythic can bugger off for all I care, they obviously care about you guys more (no offense) and at the moment I am having tremendous fun with AoC, more than I ever had with WAR.

Somewhat tempting, but then I'd have to reinstall Warhammer. Honestly everyone I know there has since quit/gone back to WoW/joined the Foreign Legion, so... not much calling me back.

It is a good offer, though. Welcome Back Weekends are always a good idea.

I can't help but feel Massively is pitching it just a *bit* hard, however. It does feel like they're trying to sell the game here. I am curious what the special item is, though. My vote is for a tankard that summons a dancing lobster.

That'd be worth going back for.

Unfortunately it seems most MMO devs haven't quite mastered the art of the Gimmick Item yet...

You get 10 days free, but you're automatically billed!!! You're joking right? Please tell me you're joking...

Am I the only one that thinks this is a tad on the dishonest side?

In the SotG for EU they mentioned that EU would have forums next week. Now i just hope that they release an equivalent program to this one also.

I might check it out this weekend, I'm having another run of WoW blues/bored to tears with it.

You know, I just checked out that email. Its really well done. Definitely fits the 'call to arms' theme, as it mentions the level and tier of my highest toon. If that is PB's work ('creative director' wth?) then his best work is definately off camera. Fortunately I left after my free month, so i am not as disgruntled as some, so the email definately works for me.

I like the game, but my computer can't quite handle it. And I don't like the game enough to upgrade just for it.

So no.
