Shit happens, I guess. That's all I take from this. I don't get invested in the personalities of some developers because it's all PR crap to me. I just play the game and make up my mind. I made up my mind on it when it launched, but things are different enough now that I'm willing to try it out again.

Mythic and EA sent me an e-mail today offering me 10 days of free play if I reactivate my account. I didn't bother with the Fileplanet (I think?) since I had to pay to subscribe to their site, but at least this way I won't be out any money. I don't think I'd bother at all otherwise.

As I've said many times before, as a Warhammer fan, WAR is nothing but a disappointment. The Warhammer setting is supposed to be very dark, very serious, very mature, but WAR is like a cartoon. I played it for a month and that was enough for me. Warhammer online is just a cheap parody of what Warhammer is supposed to be.

That depends a lot from what direction you look at GW stuff.
You look at the miniatures and you see a very comic look. Gear and weapons are large, so you can easily see them when you look at a miniature from distance. The colours in most photos of miniatures are also comic. They want to people use lots of color. Colorful means more paint, and have you seen the prices of their paints..;) Also colourfull is easier to paint good than black/dark/"grim".
You look at the drawings and you have a very grim and dark look. Some of the pictures are almost disturbing, specially considering that GW target kids as customers also.

So even Games Workshop has this everything for everyone setting a bit and why wouldnt they.. its business..

Mr. Digital is right in this regard, especially with current 7th Edition.

When I say Warhammer Online is like a cartoon, I don't just mean graphically, I mean in the feel of the setting as a whole. The Warhammer Online setting feels like a cartoon.

Based on the RPG and the novels, the Warhammer setting is supposed to be very dark. At the beginning of the first Gotrek and Felix novel, for instance, they charge into a Chaos orgy. The introduction in the RPG warns that the game is for mature audiences only. This is not how Warhammer Online is at all, and that's why I call it a cheap parody of Warhammer.

City of Heroes does bigger stuff than that on a semi-monthly basis. I think, to be honest, it's had some between_ issue patches that did more.

Absolutely dead on, and the CoH folks don't jam it down your throat showing you all that they did, they let their community praise their work.

I hate when companies come forward wanting a big pat on the back because they fixed X amount of bugs, news flash your subscribers have been paying you hard earned money for 6 straight months while those bugs were hampering them. Instead of making your game look good, it reminds us how your dev team look incompetent that so many bugs were still in existence for such a long period after launch.

What a dick head that guy is, you'd think he would have learned to keep his mouth shut after the 'server merges are death to MMOs' comment but no he just keeps going. I can think of at least one *cough*AoC *cough* MMO that has had significantly more updates, content, fixes and tweaks than Warhammer in recent months, so no it's not safe for you to say ANYTHING Mark.

It's just too much bullshit that makes the game unfun for me to resub.

Rewards, and zones, and classes, and blah blah blah Super Ginormous Mega Costco Wholesale Toilet Paper Size Patches!! (gimmie a break, MJ). It's all garbage if the one thing that makes the game intriguing (RVR & City Sieges) don't work worth a dick (WAR isn’t everywhere… LAG is) and reward even funker (PASS ON GOLD BAG BUTTON, FFS!!! at least until you fix the contribution system, and get rid of the PvE gear grind. Want more people in RvR? Don’t force them to run LV to stay relevant).

1.2 was a nice step in the right direction, but I'll revisit the game in like a year. Maybe 2. It's not polished enough for a game that is almost exclusively tied to large scale PvP.
So, as a casual PvP game, WAR can be great. Unfortunately, it’s only gratifying or a few months and then it’s the same ol same ol, and the unpolish becomes extremely apparent.

heh... I guess I'm more dissappointed as I can see where this game could be one the best large scale Faction vs. Faction game out, but it's not. It's no where close. Hopefully, thing get turned around and less focus is on making new thing to entice players, and instead focus on fixing the things that frustrating players.

Thanks Brooke. Pretty much agree with everything. Especially how AoE CC kills fun in T4 RvR.
Also with the latest server transfers (at least on my European server) play performance and realm vs. realm balance went down the drain. I'm looking forward to all the changes that Mark adressed, but I'm not sure I'll still be there to see them in place.

Well it seems like a huge free update, content patch, only because all these content were suppose to be at launch.

Say whatever you might wanna say, I really felt cheated when they use marketing advantage to withhold content for launch only to use it as later marketing gimmick.

Releasing Chopper Class 6 months into the game cycle when it was already ready since beta, is a huge mistake. And to disguise all these as a good gesture (late into the game release) only make me sick.

Ask any beta community players and they will tell you the classes and their experiences during beta.

So the next big thing will be a slow trickle release of various capital cities?

PS: let me know when all the content is up.

Preach on brother Andy!

I was one of those beta testers and all of what you said is so damn true.. I will give it one more month for the marketing blitz comes from the "new capital city's" opening up...

I have lost all hopes in Mythic at this point and I`m really sick of this self congratulation attitude when every single thing they are doing were supposed to be there at release.

I also agree to the fact that WAR is a parody of Warhammer and would add a travesty of WoW.

I'm also sick with all these Mythic interviews with their PR thing "The sky is blue,we have beautiful flowers"sometimes I wonder if I'm watching an episode of Pushing Daisies.

(Long string of expletives self-deleted as unproductive.) All those words about keep and fortress takes, and not one admission that at least half of all the contested keep and fortress takes are won through exploits. Or, to be fair, at least they were prior to 1.2. I haven't been back since I quit in disgust over the amount of exploiting being gotten away with. When I get a free minute, probably Monday, I'll reactivate for the 10-day trial to see if 1.2 patched the gaping "broken leash" and "line of sight" bugs that were making it impossible to defend a keep against a determined cheater. If they weren't fixed, then screw the game; they're not banning exploiters, and I don't enjoy playing against cheaters. And if they were fixed, for the love of all holy (and unholy) gods, why didn't they SAY so?
