I'll be at the midnight showing tonight (eastern time). I am a big fan of the comics and hope this movie at least makes me happy. I'm not really interested in the other watchmen games though.

My wife and I don't don't usually go to the movies, b/c we have a nice home entertainment set-up, but for the Watchmen...

My wife told me she really wnated to see it opening weekend. She offered to take me to dinner and pay for the movie just so I'd agree to go.

If she plays her cards right, I'll give it up too.

Thanks :)

Funny though, my wife did the SAME thing. Except she followed it up with "right.... if I play MY cards right. sure."

I'm living in Hungary and we already had the premier; I've watched the movie 6 hours ago - and it was a great movie; but I saw better ones too. (and I won't play with the games; I don't have neither an iPhone nor a console... and my computer is too old)

I'm going either Friday night or Saturday night to see the movie. Even if it can't stand up to the source material it still looks to be a good movie. I never thought I would ever see a Watchmen movie in my lifetime so even a average grade adaptation would still be fun in my book...

And I don't have an iPhone so I won't be checking out the MMO..

I'll definitely go see it Friday during the day. (since I'm between jobs at present) I read the graphic novel earlier this week and I'm not very impressed with the writing or the storyline, to be honest. I think it was really lacking. I hope the movie is worth watching for the visuals, though. I always try to be supportive of anything based upon comic books 'cuz the genre has been ignored and sneered at by the general public for so long.

Not to sound mean, but if you truly found the storyline and writing to be 'lacking,' as you put it, you probably don't understand it.

No, I understood it. I could see what the writer was trying to get at. It just seemed like it was written by someone in high school.

I already have tickets for Friday night. I'm going with fourteen of my closest friends! :)

Unrelatedly, I'll be buying an iPhone this weekend or the next. So I may checkout the Watchmen on the iPhone, who knows...

A no from me ; never read the book, though I do of course know the story.

I just class it in the 'miserable & violent things happening to miserable & violent people' genre, which - while massively successful - simply holds no appeal for me.

I will be trying to see Watchmen this weekend. After all, someone has to watch the watchmen.

Anyways, as to iphone and ps3 tie-ins, I will be doing neither. Mostly because I own neither of those devices. But if I did, I am sure that I would at least try them out, though I have no idea if I would stick with them.

I really feel that a portable platform like the iphone (or DS or PSP) really isn't a good place for an MMO... but I'm saying that more from not having any sort of grasp of how it would be done and how it would work. Having played EQOA on the PS2 both with and without a keyboard... I don't think a MMO without real fluid communication is going to work real well. It will be more of a stand alone game that just happens to have other real people playing it that you can see and mildly interact with...

Maybe playing it I would change my mind. But I have a hard time wrapping my head around it. And were I blue and prancing about in the nude like Mr Manhatten, I wouldn't be playing it either because it would be below my station...

I saw a sneak preview on Tues. It's pretty good; very atmospheric, very true to the source material and the casting was spot-on. My friend, who is a non-comic/gamer geek, absolutely loved it.

Even though I'm a big superhero fan, I won't be going to this movie. I just didn't like the comic very much and I've felt burned by previous Alan Moore-inspired movies.

I might rent it one day. Maybe.

I work in a bookshop and every now and then we do a show and tell during staff meetings on our favourite book.
I'm pretty sure all my workmates are sick of me doing Watchmen everytime.
Got my cinema ticket booked. Can't bloody wait.
