Warhammer Online's 1.2 patch might just bring you back

Not only is the 1.2 patch huge in terms of size, it is also huge in terms of the impact it will have on Warhammer Online. According to the table of contents, there are 75 sections and subsections in these patch notes. Yikes! Almost every area of the game is affected by 1.2, including combat and careers, crafting, itemization, quests and public quests, items, realm vs. realm, and the user interface.

This patch is chock full of goodness but if you had to pick the top three highlights, they would probably be the Bitter Rivals live event, Zone Domination system, and fixes to combat and careers. Bitter Rivals is a weeklong live event that will provide you with plenty of fun tasks to complete, a new Twisting Tower scenario, and the ability to unlock early access to the new Slayer and Choppa careers. Zone Domination is an alternative way progress the RvR campaign more quickly. It also encourages more rigorous defence of objectives and keeps. Every single career in WAR had some of their abilities fixed or balanced, which makes this the most comprehensive career balance patch since 1.06 in early December.

I've deliberately stopped renewing until this patch hits. I've saved a few bucks waiting awhile, and once it does hit I'll buy at least one more month to give it another chance. From what I read of the patch notes, they seem to be changing quite a bit for the better. Although I am sure there will still be tons of balance issues (which have been this games #1 plague since launch).

I've been doing the trial account for the last 5 days and i have to say i really like the game. going to pick up a retail copy on the cheap hopefully from my local circuit city. now i only have characters as high as level 10 but i did notice the mayor power difference between the orders warpriest and dark elves something of kaine.

hopefully 1.2 fixs alot of that.

anyone have any suggestions on a high pop server i could transfer to instead of the low pop newbness that is monolith. (walked into the cap city and saw 2 other players in an hour of exploring.)

The first 5 hours of this game are fine. DO not base your purchase decision on that though. Period.

A million people bought it, like 200k are left... 800k are not wrong.

Patch 1.2 actually drove me away from WAR. I was going to give the game a try, but after reading that the only 2 classes I cared to play, the Marauder and the Black Orc, were nerfed to unplayability, I decided not to give the game a try.

Yes yes and my favorite class, the shadow warrior, is supposedly the worst in the game..and yet I enjoy playing it greatly....play it before you complain.

CCoene, Black Orcs got one nerf and about 10 buffs. Their dps is much more substantial and they are more useful in groups now. Marauders got their terrible embrace pull buffed so they can use it on the move now. The only classes that got really nerfed were Witch Elves and Witch Huners, but that was inevitable.

Same here, Shawdow Warrior is supposed to be the worst class in the game. It's a range DPS class, but compared to the other range DPS class it technically doesn't match their ability to own people.

But I find it an extremely fun class to play, I could care less if its the worst in the game. It's all about having fun.

The patch is great so far. They've done well.

Are the WoW BattleScenariogrounds out of the game with this patch? Have they gone back to DAoC-styled RvR like WAR was originally supposed to be? Have the flagrant Warhammer lore violations been curbed in? These are the things that will bring me back to WAR. Not "new shinies".

Exactly. That is the single most disappointing thing about the whole mess that is WAR.

Mythic have completely lost focus on what the player base was so excited about during those years of anticipation.

Again, a lot of of this anti-WAR crap is silliness. There are 300,000 playing this game, down from 1 million who bought. Going out on a limb, but I'm wiling to bet those 700,000 went on to play something called "Wrath if the Lich King" when it came out a month or so after WAR. Now that the content in Lich King is exhausted, they will likely start filtering back to WAR.

The game is quite good. Better than most MMOs. We lal have our own opinions, and that's fine. But to call the game "bad" or a "turd" is just simple ignorance.

Looks like a fantastic patch, and I really wanted to play a choppa from the start.

Problem is, I've finally given Eve a try and I'm loving it so I doubt I will be resubbing to try out WAR anytime soon.

I'm having a lot of fun with this new patch. A lot of the little "nags" I've had about the game are mostly gone. I played the new scenario a few times last night and had a ball. Haven't seen the new zone domination system work yet, because there were tons of people rvr'ing.

I played for a month after release and, despite the rough edges, saw loads of potential.
The death of my PC coupled with a career change saw me move from a Windows-based machine to a Mac.

As good as these changes look, I won't be going back until they add Mac support. (Yes... I know I could use Parallels or Boot Camp and play, but I'm not purchasing a copy of Windows just to play Warhammer.)

I really think that Mythic is missing the boat on Mac gamers.
Intel based Macs are solid gaming machines and Apple's market share continues to grow.
There are plenty of us out here that are waiting to throw money Mythic's way. They just need to come over to the dark side. :)

I played for a while when the game first came out, quit after Christmas, and now I'm seriously feeling like playing again. This patch really is bringing me back. I probably will start my subscription again in the next month or two.

Well, after Patch 1.2 I cancelled my subscription. Patch fixed some bugs, added little content, and nerfed the class I played (Witch Elf) into oblivion, while buffin other classes into God mode. Mythic follows the Blizard buff, nerf, buff, nerf model based upon whinning cry babies that is infuriatiing. The class balance issues are intollerable. I played since beta, and the classes were more balanced then than now. Sure I could have re-roll a new character and leveled it up to 40, but I just could not make myself log in. Just not fun anymore, and having played DAoC, I have no faith in Mythic.

2nd day into my free 10 please come back offer. Im loving it, rolled a brand new character, a witch , having a blast, the only problem right now is the lack of healers and insane amount of choppas and slayers. Out of the 12 people in a scenario, 6 are choppas and only 1 of the whole group is a healer. But its the same with the other group.

Also, at around 4pm most of the servers where at medium, yesterday night some servers where on que.
