A lot of updates and additional content have been coming down the pipe for Age of Conan in the last several months, and that pace doesn't look to be slowing down anytime soon. It's one thing to slap another fifteen bucks on the table in order to give an MMO the second go-round. That's why we're wondering how many previously subscribed players would be interested in re-installing and patching (a courageous task indeed) the game to see how things have changed.
All things considered, we'll probably see a "come back for free" deal out of Funcom sometime this year. And it's possible that new and intriguing content updates will have manifested on the live servers by that time. Our curiosity will of course mean a revisit to Hyperborea for us, but what about for you, our dear readers?

I think I would give it another go. There definitely seems to have been quite a lot of updates since I've played last.

No. Ok, to be fair, I never played it but followed its progress and there are just too many issue for me. In addition, there are too many good MMOs to play to justify the time for a questionable one. Maybe if I was a huge Conan fan as a child but still.

I like free. My mates and I are getting kinda burnt out on WAR, AC, L4D and TF2 lately. So maybe a change in scenery. I do kinda miss my Tempest and all that.

It would probably depend on if I had something else to play when they offered it. If I was starved for some form of entertainment, I would probably give it another chance, for free. If I was currently playing another MMO, or even a single-player game, I probably wouldn't bother.

I have recently checked it out again(the patching isn't as bad as it was.). I got a copy for a good friend of mine. If they were to do a trial several more friends of mine would probably check it out. It still has it's rough spots, but if you have a serious gaming computer, you like MMO's, but also like other types of games it is worth even the current 19.99 price.

Nope.
I lost respect for the developers, which is much more important to me than just about anything in a game. Too many good quality games(and developers) out there now. People that earn my money by putting out quality products instead of lying about the features of their product.

I can't see myself going back. For one thing, the huuuge downloads would cripple my internet - curse these New Zealand 20GB data caps.

I do not plan on going back. From memory a lot of the patches since release has been the necessary bug fixes and a lot of high end new content. My issue with the game was the bland nature of the environment and lack of lore once you leave the start area. I dont see any patches that have revised the content in the mid levels to draw me back

Huge downloads? Are we talking about downloading the entire game or updates? O.o I've never had a patch take hours.
I come back to Conan once in a while, so yes for free of course I'd try it again. Too late though I've already resubbed for the month. ;)

No.
I played about a month ago, and the game was still as hollow as ever. I gave 'em two chances. That's all they get for another couple years.

Yes i sure as heck would. AoC was perhaps the most fun i had in an MMO in years before i got out of Tortage. I had some great PvP in the newbie areas but i got really bored after i got into the 50's and felt like i had no goal to reach and nothing to do but find some quests and grind.
ALso did they improve gather resources? I HATED running around that zone from node to node for hours.

Nope, i wouldnt go back even for free. Funcom scamed me and i refuse to ever do business with them again. Period. Anyone else who bought the game on release should feel the same way.
Burning bridges is allways a bad thing.

I'm not sure why people can't wrap their heads around this, but the biggest investment in an MMO is not the $15 per month, it's the TIME it takes to get anything done. I could care less if it's free, I'm not going to spend hours and hours adding up to days and days getting a character to max level when there's no guarantee it's going to be worth it in the end. I can check back on my lvl 30 toons and see the same stuff, just knowing there's "extra content" out there doesn't cure the burn we got from Funcom when we first invested our time into the game.

That POS doesn't even uninstall properly, so I'm certainly not letting them anywhere near my system again.

I can certainly understand a lot of people's feeling towards FC. I feel the same about NCSoft. I highly doubt that company will ever see a dime of my money again.
But, I will say the game is in a really polished state now. If you're not trying it again b/c of how you feel you were treated by FC, then I think you're completly validated in that choice.
If someone is unwilling to try it again, only b/c they didn't enjoy the content or stability, then I think you're doing yourself a disservice.

I must be crazy, but I think AoC has SO much to offer... It's weird to me how people give other crappy games such a long chance because the expectations are low..
Most people just expect AoC to be amazing or they don't play. I know lots of people who like it a lot but they're pissed at how things happened so they have a negative approach to it.

No ; not because I think it is a bad game, but because of the travel times.
It is just not within my tolerance limits to play games like Conan and LotR, where you can reasonably expect to spend at least as much time traversing empty countryside as actually playing.
If all the deadspace were somehow cut then I'd resubscribe today, but since that can'nay happen I'm staying clear.
