Linden Lab have made a new Second Life viewer release-candidate available. RC10 is the eleventh release candidate in the unexpectedly elongated 1.22 series (Linden Lab starts counting from RC0). It seems like the 1.22 series has been going on for ages, doesn't it? RC0 was in November.
Fixes this time around fix saving textures that were embedded in notecards to disk, and some problems relating to voice crashing the viewer or getting generally hung. There's also another minor fix to Japanese text localization and a voice behavioral change. There still seem to be some lingering issues with raycasting.
Bug Fixes from the Public Nightly Viewers:
- Fixed: VWR-12082: The action "Save Texture As..." of a texture which is embedded into a notecard will crash the viewer
- Fixed: VWR-12005: SLVoice.exe crashed when using RC9 or 1.22.9
- Fixed: VWR-12077: Preferences: Voice Chat Enablement Crash Bug
- Partial Fix: VWR-12025: If you reset Voice during a 1-on-1 Voice call, the viewer may show you "stuck" in the call even if you return to spatial Local chat
- Note: This fix changes viewer behavior slightly when you consciously disable and re-enable voice : Viewer 1.22 and later will no longer attempt to put your avatar back into any voice call which you were in. Instead, after consciously disabling and re-enabling Voice, you will now always end up in local, spatial voice chat. (As long as you are on a land parcel which allows voice.)
- You will need to manually re-connect to any private or ad-hoc voice call that you were in.
- This allows you to re-set your Voice settings more predictably, like a re-login to Second Life: The way to get out of a voice-confusion state is to disable & re-enable Voice Chat (in Preferences), and this puts you back in a 'known' state in the local, spatial channel.

Release candidate viewers access your live account on the main Second Life grid (Agni). Potentially they may cause hair-loss in pets, and should be always be kept out of reach of children. The downloads are served by Amazon's S3 service and we use and recommend the use of a download manager to keep your download times to a minimum.
Notably, while they're called release candidates, they're actually beta (and occasionally alpha) releases. The reasoning behind calling them release candidates has never been made clear.
