Bah this sucks, no Michael.. :-/ Damn him for going to the Dark side.

The main reason I am looking forward to Darkfall is for that FFA PVP experience.

Yes, there will always be griefers in open-ended pvp games. If there are mechanisms in a game to allow a player to hinder the enjoyment of another player, it is a guarantee. With that being said, griefers do not bother me.

FFAPvP is similar to a first person shooter, but has a few key differences. With items to be lost, you generally will not have the large amount of players rushing in, getting killed, and then simply respawning 15 seconds later to repeat the process all over again. When a battle begins, my heart rate elevates quite a bit higher than in a game like Battlefield. The adrenaline starts pumping as I know that if I am defeated, I just lost X amount of hours achieving my goals. I did, however, gain valuable experience from the scenario. The next time I am encountered by either the same, or like-minded player, perhaps I will be victorious? This would allow me to get the items back I lost in the first place.

Now back to the part about griefers. A lot of players online act differently as to how they act in real life. There are no real-world penalties for acting like a ____ (add your own swear here) in game. They enjoy bringing other people demise because of some screwed up feeling of domination.

Just remember that it is a game. You can, and should, certainly play competitively if that's what you are looking for, but if it ceases to bring you joy, perhaps you should consider moving onto something else. I personally enjoy finding griefers and removing them from the field. There are quite a few people that are of the same mindset. If you don't like griefers, do something about it. Mass a large enough group, and one or two lonely PKs will be no problem. If they aren't getting the satisfaction of watching cheap/un-even tactics lead to victory, perhaps they will 'nerd-rage' and quit.

I tend to believe griefers are the same types of people who use aimbots/wallhacks in first person shooters.

My advice is to relax; strive for the best equipment and skills in the game, but do not be discouraged when it is not easily obtainable. Find a guild of people you can relate to. There are obstacles, caused by both NPC and PC areas. Overcome them and you will feel like a god...even if it only lasts for 15 seconds while the person you thought was your ally swiftly lodges his axe into the back of your skull.

I tend to stay subscribed to 1 PvE and 1 PvP game simultaneously. Thankfully, the subscription fees do not bother me.

Darkfall is so bad :\ People who are hyping that game obviously havn't played many mmorpgs because veterans of the genre have seen this type of game come and fail time and time again and Darkfall will be no different. You can tell just from the gameplay videos at how bad it is and how buggy it is. Like most things are broken or arn't even in the game at when it's meant to launch........ why do people put up with ugly broken and buggy games?

I hate bugs.
