Today's the big day, Darkfall fans! The 25th of February has arrived and Darkfall should be fully online sometime this afternoon/evening as Aventurine flips the switch on their servers!
This launch hasn't passed without problems though. First came the online pre-order page becoming swamped with traffic, leading to multiple credit card charges, people who never received their activation codes, and people who got codes but weren't even charged for the game. If you have had a problem with your pre-order, and wish to check the status of your account, you can always do so on the account management page. Be warned -- account management is under extreme stress from all the traffic and has been mostly down.
Today, the heavily burdened website's forums have been up and down, with timeouts occurring as players pile in to see what the news is on the servers. Currently, as of the writing of this post, the servers are still down and unresponsive.
Sales of Darkfall will also resume today, as Aventurine plans to start selling the game early in the evening, around the time the servers go live. No exact time has been given yet, but we'll keep our eye on the forums for any specifics given by the development team.

Its getting harder with these shoddy MMO launches to know exactly when I should be calling in sick for work.

7:20pm here in Germany right now and still no update or launch. How much more in the "early evening" should folks expect?
@Nadril
I was thinking the exact same thing. I hope Aventurine does the DF community right, but as of right now they are failing horribly.

My predictions of Darkfall's luanch are as follows: After a long day of wedsite crashes, forum crashs and a lot of whining from players Darkfall will launch at around midnight european time.
Thousands players many of them of Ganksters and no life pvpers will pile onto the servers and into the starting areas which will resemble the battle of Omaha beach + Monte Casino + Kesserine pass + Iwo Jima. All hell will break loose and servers will crash many many times.
Escuses will be made by the devs and fan bois

Why do you always troll Darkfall news? Do you get off on antagonizing its fans? I expect this game to face plant but I don't have a problem with what the players want it to be.

It makes me wonder if they should have more gradual launches. If they modeled them like airplanes seat their passengers ("Now seating rows X through Y," for example), maybe there would be fewer server crashes and a) some problems would be avoided while b) problems that do actualize would be more easily identified.
Just my two bits.

Some of the problems have been going on for two days now. I tried multiple times to create an account and each time was told to enter my state. On my final attempt, the state field BECAME a drop down box with choices.
Once I registered and received my confirmation email, I clicked the link and it told me I waited more than 24 hours and to re-register!!
Best of luck to Aventurine and the people interested in playing this game. The lack of communication from the community team and effort I have gone through to unsuccessfully give them my money has me looking elsewhere. Perhaps CCP is interested in my subscription! =)

It sounds like aventurrine seriously underestimated demand. It's odd, even though being a small company, the amount of players they can support is tiny. You'd think they would have secured more investors and worked to expand the capacity of the game given the staggering level of pre-release hype good or bad.
Or they could try and make a rlelationship with an established publisher. Like the game or not, it seems to have found a profitable niche if the web site crashes under the load of traffic, and it might be a good value for a larger company to get behind.

Well, I'm in, and the mobs lag a bit every now and then. But the client and server are stable so far.
