Lots of people seem to think that the Devs and Beta testers are actually lying about what is and will be in the game. I don't understand why there is all the hate, to think someone is wrong is one think but to think they are purposefully and willfully deceiving you is another. I mean if they have lied in the past then I guess it is warranted but I would interested in hearing about that.

Well, it wouldn't be the first time it has happened in this here industry. Once bitten, twice shy.

I wouldn't say lying. Over-exaggerating maybe. They're just throwing out big words to hype the game up. And that's not a very good thing to do especially if you're not sure about the state of your "final" product.

Stuff like "A quest that can be done only once by a person" is possible, IN THEORY. If you have unlimited resource/time to create such thing for your game, more power to you. But just a few of such quest isn't going to make ANY difference.

And in reality, it's not a very good idea to invest so much resource into something that can't be appreciated by the majority of your playerbase. Players may or may not get upset over it, but you've wasted the resource, one way or another.

See Age of Conan and to a lesser degree Warhammer online. Niether of them came close to living up to what the Dev's promised and while WAR IS starting to get closer Conan is still a pile of crap.

I wish Darkfall the best of luck, but I will be staying away. The whole thing just reminds me of Shadowbane, which was a technical mess at release.

I know that most recent games have been done in the 'WoW' mold, but there are a few out there that have done things a bit differently (like Pirates of the Burning Seas for instance).

I too want to see a greater variety. I was very much looking forward to WAR, but I have already lost interest. Honestly I don't believe it is the fault of WAR so much as it is the burnout on EQ descendent like games (EQ, EQ2, WoW, WAR, etc).

Darkfall pretty much stands for everything that I absolutly loathe in a game...nonetheless I would like to see it thrive (in the EVE sense not WoW). I will probably always love WoW, but I'd also like something else to catch my intererst at some point down the line. That really can't happen if games that harken back to an older style of gameplay and break current molds don't succeed.

Developers do need to see that change can be profitable to want to try it.

I'm pretty sure these quests would probably be automatically generated based on the progression of the storyline.
