$15 a month is about as cheap of entertainment per hour as you can find!

But even still, I found it unnecessary to carry a 2nd WoW account so I cancelled it. I am keeping my main though. I also had a SOE Station Pass account just for laughs, but I cancelled that as well.

I am a LotRO lifetime subscriber so no worries there, glad I did that when I did.

Why pay $15 a month when you can get a spectacularly beautiful world for only $9.99 a month?

I am so glad I left WoW before their last xpac and went to Lotro. There are literally hundreds of people online all the time on Brandywine in all level groups (from 1 to 60).

Plus if i want to PvP instead of level, I can as long as I am level 10...which is 2 hours work tops. So yeah I canceled WoW to save myself a few dollars a month and so glad I did.

Well, LotRO isn't as good of a game as WoW, but it does have nice graphics and I guess $5.00 off is something. Though remember you can pay $12.99 for WoW if you pay 6 months at a time.

That is all on a persons opinion. I think Lotro is a much better game than WoW. I was too adicted to WoW and the extreme easiness of it for so long that I am just now getting to Lotro. not saying it isn't a fun game, just not my kind of fun.

I like being able to log on, run a 3 man instance or solo instance in Moria and get some fun and good drops in a short amount of time compared to WoW's instancing requirements.

Hey LotroME...I'm also on Brandywine and feel the same way. I seriously considered trying out Litch King too but in the end Moria is so, so good that I can't imagine going elsewhere. The price is right at $9.53. The world is right. Besides, Blizzard took my characters out of the Armory because I have been away so long. Now I doubt I will ever go back.

@Meowcat

You can get dropped from the armory if you are away from WoW for awhile, but Blizzard has no plans of ever deleting characters right now. I called tech support and verified that when I took a 6 month break from WoW. Not trying to tempt you back, just throwing that out FYI. =)

I consolidated all my WoW accounts onto one account. Paying 2 xfer fees is still cheaper then paying $15 a month x 3. I do miss tri-boxing though :(

i had a LotrO, DDO, EvE, Tabula Rasa, AoC account running at any one time (first 3 for over a year)

i've since then cancelled all, tabula was first to go after 6 months.
followed by DDO with module 7
LotrO was last, shortly before moria - still might get it , but currently just dont have the time to invest 15 a month in it, i had a 3 month sub, so i still have time left to say goodbye to my kin and friends etc... )
AoC survived only 2 months before the lies, lies and lies of the devs made me sick.

i kept eve running for 2 years before cancelling it last week. i'd achived everything i'd set out to do. i had money, a good corp, the ship i'd worked for, more PvP madness then i could and a short wile ago i got to fly my first Titan (borrowed it from a corp mate for a fleet-battle). so i'm content with eve. i might tune in for the new expansion with MOAR tech. but not for now.

so now i have 1 month sub on cronicles of the spellborn but i wont keep it untill they introduce some more content/features.

that said - all my hope is on darkfall now.

I canceled all my MMO accounts. I grew bored of WOW, even with the Lich King the game is just the same crap. I also canceled Warhammer, just due to lack of players on my server. Been enjoying playing solo games and free multiplay games.

Canceled many MMOs and went back to many. Not really for money as for time. I like to have time to enjoy the game and keep open time for non MMOs. Many good single player RPGs out their .. Fallout 3 , The Withcer, etc. Also games like Sins of a Solar Empire, Civ 4. That I like to have time for.

Fortunately for me, I was able to land my first solid, well paying job last February, so I can afford to keep 4 MMOs running simultaneously without worrying (lotro lifetime membership notwithstanding). Things weren't always so great though, in 2007 I had to put a full stop on any recurring game payments due to chronic unemployment. Stopped WoW in April 07 among others, and was able to pick it back up when Lich King came out. I could have done so earlier, but the longer I stayed unsubscribed to it, the less I missed it and the more I realized I could live without it (very liberating feeling).

That said, I'm glad I'm able to now keep multiple subscriptions running simultaneously. Even if I don't play them all (and I don't really, mostly warcraft), it's still my way of showing support for the games that I believe are worth it the best way I can, with my wallet. They will continue to grow better as time goes on so when I feel bored enough with Warcraft I can have other options to play around with. It's good to keep one's options open and not limit yourself to a single game if possible.

I know that ppl like to hate on SoE but for me esp. in these times the 29.99 i pay a month for station access is well worth it.,for that price i get eq1,eq2,swg,potbs,
vanguard, and eqoa(my kids like it because they can play it on the good ole ps2).in addition theres the possibilty of being able to add DCUO and free realms(kids looking forward to this one) to station access as well when these come out. call me crazy but six good mmos for the price of 2 is a good bargain and in these times im all about the"good bargain" :)

I canceled everything, but have a Lifetime LOTRO, thank goodness. $15/month is actually a good value, but our company handed out across-the-board pay cuts for Christmas and making ends meet has become quite a challenge.

Suddenly $15 matters. But I cut out stuff like beer, magazines, pared down my Netflix account, knocked some channels off the cable tv bill and so forth, before I got to cutting MMO subs. :)

I've never been one to have 2 MMO accounts going at once. Once I start working on a character I don't enjoying splitting my attention between games. I certainly would not do it in tight economic times. I've canceled WoW, WAR and LOTRO at one point or another. I only went back to LOTRO and have decided I am here for a long time. Only SWOR seems intriguing enough to pull me away in the futuer but again, I would only play 1 title at a time. At this point I am considering a lifetime LOTRO membership but read that it is only guaranteed through 2012? Is that true?

Thanks blindside044. That does make the lifetime fee more enticing doesn't it?

Did they ever fix the music animations in LoTR? They borked them a couple patches before Moria went live and it made one of my favorite aspects of the game one of my least favorite (the ABC music system).

If they changed them back I would probably come back to the game.

I cancelled my WoW Europe account just before WotLK launch. Euro is just too expensive these days. (1.00€ = 2.03141 TRL)

I only have one WoW account and it costs $15 a month; far cheaper than any other form of entertainment I engage in. I'm not going anywhere. I have made cuts in other parts of my life as part of a general money-saving strategy unrelated to the U.S. recession. I'm bringing lunch to work more often, cooking at home, and trying to dine out less.

With my hours cut back at work I really can't in good conscience contiuning to pay 15 a month for 2 games, WAR and EVE. Hopefully I will be able to get back to them once my hours get restored.
