I don't believe that. I signed up for a new account myself, after all the starbase exploit news.

It's quite impressive, given how niche the game is. Though CCP really needs to workk on better servers to accomodate their most traffic-heavy systems. In the last few days Jita has been literally unplayable, with peaks of 3-4 minutes of waiting time just to dock out of a station...

Don't forget the afk/semi-afk people too. I just came back to the game, but I'm still not sure why. I love the idea of the game, but I just can't bring myself to play it.

yay! 45k players!

And complaining about lag in jita is like complaining about water in the ocean, stay out if you dont like it, there are plenty of other trade hubs.

Sorry, but major trading hubs are like cities in other MMORPGs, I'm pretty sure that if people would take 4 minutes to enter or exit an inn in Altdorf in Warhammer Online (or any other equivalent place in any other game) there'd be a riot.
I don't see why massive (and i mean it) lag can be discounted just because you can decide not to go there.

Eve is in many ways a lovely game, and the increase in it's popularity demonstrates it, but flaws are flaws, and this one is pretty evident and should be adressed.

Sorry to be nitpicking, but EVE is not run on a single server; it's being run as a single shard environment, that consists of many hundreds of servers - which is still a remarkable feat!

Hi Sered -- I was just referring to 'single server' in terms of the game's setting, rather than the number of servers powering New Eden.

I'm not sure if you've read this yet, but Brendan Drain (one of our columnists) wrote a piece on EVE's server model which was very well-received:
