I'm most looking forward to Darkfall Online, I'm in a pretty decent guild (Duchy of Wessex), and the game is looking as if it is going to be good. It looks like it will be a change from all the other linear mmo's out there. It proposes to offer open PvP, everywhere, a "hack'n'Slash" type combat, and another thing, no names bobbing above heads! You can actually hide in the grass!. Lol.

Well I was too back when I knew a lot less about it I thought a game with no levels and no classes would be great just skills that as you use them slowly get more and more powerful.
I was imagining a system where every 10 points of experience in a skill, for example Battleaxes, gave you slightly more damage and accuracy with axes or somthing along those lines with a very high cap. Then you could truely get a little bit better everyday.

Then I learned that every skill is capped at 100 points which is basically just a leveling system without calling it a leveling system! Its either going to be INSANELY easy to max skill levels or its going to be a grind between points. I don't want EITHER personally I would rather not hit the max in one day and I REALLY wanted the "Every bit of experience counts" system.

Then I learned that the game actually DOSE have classes and the DO give extra combat ability you just don't HAVE to pick one.

At that point I realised Darkfall is a SHAM and totally gave up on the whole stuipid thing. At this point it back to Northrend for me. Too bad I got my hopes up for a truely leveless classless game.

I'm looking forward to finding out more about Guild Wars 2, but I'm really excited to see where Mythic takes Warhammer Online.

Hoping for a reveal of the "Copernicus" project by 38 studios. Also the inevitable announcement of the next WoW expansion.

I'm looking forward to, not in order of favorites, but just as I think of them:

Star Trek Online (prob 2010 release)
Star Wars: The Old Republic
LotRO Expansion Pack #2 (Rohan!)
AoC Expansion Pack #1 (Khitai!)
The Sims 3 (I know it's not an MMO, but still!)
DCUO (still ticked at SOE for RMT w/ sub payments! But I might give this a try...as it looks decent. Too bad SOE has it!)
Champions Online

Looks as if time to save up some $$$!

I hate to rain on your Parade but getting excited about dakfall right now is a tad silly seeing as there is very little REAL information about it besaides what the Devs (Who have never made a game before) say about it and if theres one thing we have learned from Conan its that what the devs say and whats really there can be two VERY different things. When we start hearing some seriously positive reviews from public beta or release day from multiple trusted sources THEN get excited. Untill then your setting yourself up for a possible even likely disapointment.

That's exactly my problem with Darkfall (which i will for sure try anyway), it reeks "conan" from a mile apart.
The impression it's team gives me is that they simply scanned the forums for every single complains hardcore (sometimes excessively hardcore) MMO players had about previous games and tried to slap them all into a game, ending up biting too much compared to what they can swallow.

I'm entirely ready to be proven wrong, but at least conan had a lot of hype to count on for initial sales. Darkfall, besides it's rabid but very limited community of worshippers, doesn't have even that, one false step and it'll simply sink and be forgotten.

Age Of Conan was about a thousand times more promising than Darkfall is, at least Funcom had made games before. Granted they weren't particularly good or successful, but at least they'd made some mistakes which they might have learned from.

Mark my words, Darkfall will either never be released, or it will be released and fail horribly.

I am just looking forward to any new information about the Warhammer 40K MMO. All we have is the announcement from early 2007 and 1 concept art. Almost 2 years now, and nothing being said about it, makes me fear it's vaporware.

And I am pretty sick of fantasy MMO's, WAR is the last one I will ever play. So when I am done with it, I hope to move on to Warhammer 40K.

That's the one i'm looking forward to. Even if I'm kinda worried about the mess they could do with the background. The warhammer 40k universe is VERY difficult to adapt to an MMO, probably the most difficult i know. One thing that expecially worries me is faction balance. If they put space marines, imperial guard and sisters of battle together, what will they pitch against them? And if they don't, It'll become a lore-devastating mess like the DOW expansion, in which imperial forces fight one-another in the name of game balance...

On a side note, something i'm mildly looking forward for 2009 is EVE's walking in stations expansion. The fact that you can't really get out of your ship is what turned me off EVE every single time i tried to put my head into it so far. If that element gets added, I might revisit it again and see if i can finally dedicate some serious time to it.

Also, I'm pretty sure we'll at least hear about the first WAR expansion by the end of next year (if it won't reach the shelves already). Mark Jacobs somehow hinted at the Vampire counts on the VNboards, so my hope rests on a Vampire vs Bretonnia pairing addition, that would add two very solid and potentially very popular races to both sides, and would deepen the game-world quite a lot.

My most anticipated game announcement has to be Project V13 from recently resurrected Interplay, all signs point to this being the Fallout MMO.
