I canned my sub last month. Regardless whether WAR fanboys want to admit it or not, WAR is a WoW clone with LoTRO lipstick on. I never liked WoW and I'm not a fan of LoTRO either so there's nothing in that game for me. On top of that they threw the actual Warhammer lore out the window completely and entirely in order to lure WoW players. In after taking couple toons to T3, I'm done with WAR for good. And yes, these are *MY* opinions...except for the lore comment which is a FACT!

"WoW clone with LoTRO lipstick on"
Now that sounds like one sexy MMO. :-)

Question Toord. if you dumped WAR whay are you concerned whit patches (and psots about them) and feeling the need to tell us you left?

I can understand you did not like WAR. i don't understand why you need to tell the whole world?

@mikejl

I don't. I just saw this in the front page of massively and saw the ongoing discussion. Didn't mean to troll. Just wanted to express my two pence -- just as every one else in this thread did.

Peace.

Nice to see they are updating this game regularly. Still not enough substance to keep people for very long time due to the repetitiveness. This would make a A+++ console title however.

Surprised you are allowed to post JP :) Oh well....

I feel with WAR especially, it's not about defending the game, it more about people justifying their decision that they play that game, and I think that's why some of these discussions get a bit heated.

Let's not forgot with MMO developers, if you say something is OK, that's mission accomplished for them, they move on straight away and don't revisit that part of the project. If you accurately voice your opinion or displeasure, the onus is on them to improve it and continue to impress.

It seems very easy to see criticism as an unstructured attack on a game when the person reading the response has a invested time with that IP.

Instead of fanboy/hater when it comes to games it should be about consumers/suppliers to ensure that every MMO player get's the best value from their gaming experience and regardless of their attempt to vocalize their feelings, their overall opinion of the game is still valid.

I’m surprised you can too :)

I don’t disagree, but I think it’s the manor in which the dissatisfaction is presented.

I won’t argue semantics, b/c people either know how to be constructive and informative in an explanation of what they like & dislike, or they belittle and use anger or aggressive tactics to get a point across. It’s common sense, and I think you able to tell the difference.

I think it’s important for consumers to voice their concerns. But, that right should not include using defamation and slander to do so.

There are games I don’t want to play. I tried them, and to me they sucked, but I don’t need to go around putting it down for no reason other then I bought it and didn't enjoy it enough to continue playing/paying. It’s childish and petty.

All the people bitching about 'complainers' need to remember that these personae non gratae are paying customers just like yourselves. And if enough of these paying customers cancel, you can wave bye-bye to Mythic and look forward to EA running Warhammer into the ground directly before finally snuffing it out altogether.

You honestly don't know the difference between whining & bitching, and giving useful criticism?

I think anyone that can put together a thought out and informative post about why the game doesn't do it for them would be well received by most players and devs alike. It's the "this game is a waste. What a joke. It'll be shut down soon" bullshit that is unappreciated.

Saying that uninformative, dismissive posts are "helpful" to the devs, publishers, or the player base is pretty ignorant and reeks of "devils advocate"

Except that what most people are complaining about here, mainly the fact that the *main draw of the game* is unsatisfying and difficult to engage in, is a legitimate concern that has been voiced by reveiwers and users alike.

As I said before, fanboyish dismissals of legitimate criticisms being voiced by paying customers is going to hurt Warhammer. And a hurting MMO might as well be a dead one in EA's eyes.

Maybe if you're lucky Warhammer'll still be around as a hollow shell of it's original vision like Ultima Online, as opposed to simply being stripped of all developer resources and being left to wither and die like Earth & Beyond.

Glad to see them working through it. I canceled my account, but I will fire it up again in the spring to check out the progress. I hope they polish it up and make it shine.

Until then, I'm really enjoying Wrath of the Lich King, It's a hoot. I, personally, got bored with the repetition in War at launch. Stuff like this makes me happy, I really want another game with the spit and shine that WoW has, but with a different look and feel.

I must be crazy cause I am loving WAR. Bought it early Oct and the PVP is unmatched (played every MMO to date).

Sure it has some minor issues, but WAR is fun and thats what I like best in a game!

I don't get why people were so forgiving to Blizzard. They released WoW completely unfinished, in fact half the game was missing with no PvP that they promised, no end game at all, missing quests, bugs, etc.

WAR feels more complete than any MMO for this early. It will be around for a long time for sure. Each patch makes me happier and happier about playing... I think you people who quit so early don't give it a chance. I know the feeling - I almost quit the game too, but I thought I would get the most out of my 30 free days. Played a ton and then realized how fun the game is.

I plan on sticking around for some time, especially since a bunch of my friends that weren't pleased with WotLK just joined~

Glad to see Mythic working to address some of the issues with the game - the class updates will be welcome I'm sure. That said, I've already cancelled my sub, but I'll be keeping an eye on the game and may come back at some point.

WAR may be the best attempt at a PVP MMO. But with Darkfall on the rise will it stand or will it fall (taken that Darkfall ever will be release?).

Also the clock is ticking for SciFi PVE mmos where Gaters(like me) look forward to Stargate World! And Trekies look forward to Star Trek Online. And the Star Wars fans can look forward to Star Wars: The Old Republic!

If all this 3 mmos fail I will give up on the mmo world all to getter :S

I know a lot of people have already quit. But from reading the forums "the Big Patch" may be the biggest single reason for people quitting so far.

Mythic has learned it's lesson from the old DAOC days.
