EQ - Vanguard.

The proof is in the pudding, not any 'spiritual successor" spookiness.

Yeah I remember the other ex blizzard people that make a morp with a company called Flagship ..... well we all known what happened with that one.

However Mark Kern did not just help make one blizzard game but he did help make the mmo so this may turn out to be a good one but I really need see something before I can say anything about it.

Ultima Online => Tabula Rasa ....... (and personal flight to space)

Then again, you have ArenaNet, who went from *craft and Diablo to Guild Wars.

Let's wait and see.

Would be nice to see what the entire blizzard north (original) team could do with proper funding today.

I tried once WOW, but I thought it's too time-consuming. Instead, I started playing Lineage 2, which is free to purchase and you can find some free servers. After a short while I found myself tied to that game. Now I don't play anymore I just like to find out about games news and reviews on PC District.com.

"But seriously, Mark Kern is taking lead point on development of Red 5 Studio's big secret MMO project. That means whatever game he's helping to create could be considered, in a way, as the spiritual successor to World of Warcraft."

Reminds me of how Bill Roper and Flagship Studios made Hellgate: London, which was supposed to be a spiritual successor to Diablo. Let's hope Mark has a better project.

Until I see some screenshots, gameplay footage, and a beta, I'm not going to hold my breath on this one.

The glimmer of hope in this uncertainty is that, unlike Flagship, this Kern guy actually worked on more than just a single game/franchise that was acquired by Blizzard more than half way through its production.

Kern has WoW, Starcraft, and Warcraft in his credits. That's a lot more reassuring than just Diablo.

I sure hope the big reveal isn't WoW 2.0 or that shameless rip-off "Runes of Magic."
