Yeah they look good when you create them but WoW has an tendency to make your toons like clowns after a while.

Here are my lucid (as always) thoughts on DK's:

1. Alliance DK's, lore wise, are almost as big of a stretch as Alliance Warlocks. Not quite, but almost. At least DK's are going for the whole "Redeemed Thing" - although, on another side note, the quest line to get you back into your chosen faction (Alliance or Horde) is linear - though cool. The big battle at Light's Hope is one of the best PVE events I've ever seen. Blizzard needs to use that as a template for PVE and PVP mass battles. :)

2. Looks wise, the glowing eyes thing is a bit lame. It works for Undead and Night Elves and Blood Elves, but for everyone else you look like some twisted Max Headroom. Being that you're a "Redeemed Death Knight" - the fact your eyes still glow are a bit weird.

3. Graphically, the class just screams "emo". For the first few levels, you get to run around as a Marilyn Manson / emo-Goth Dark Knight sorta thing. Yippee for those that like that, I guess. Once you're in your low to mid 60's, you'll be decked out in neon Outland greens and blues so you'll just look like a normal chump with weird eyes.

4. Gameplay and Mechanics - overwhelmingly simple. You're basically playing "Wack-a-Mole" with your usable abilities. Wait for a rune to refresh, use ability with that rune.

5. PVP - This is what I fear most. Anti-magic shield is imba for Arena, and Anti-magic shell makes DK's virtually immune to most casters. Add that they have a sweet looking pull-to-you ability, a hamstring-like snare and good burst damage, it's going to just mess things up a bit. And they can't dispel Hot's on a hit too. Seems like Blizzard wanted to make them the "anti class" to every class.

Anyway, just my thoughts. :)

I think the Death Knights are scaling really really well after a week out of the box. I've seen quite a few lvl 70+ DKs (I know, already...) and the glowing eyes and different styling stand out in a good way.

They become a unique class rather than looking at them wondering if it's another warrior or paladin running by. I also have to admit - they look very very cool, but maybe that's just because they're wearing all the green Northrend armor (which looks great).

I haven't created one but they do look very cool. I'll probably create one when I tire of playing my current characters....its just nice to be back and getting to know my older characters again.

the glowing eye thing just isn't executed well - not even on the above mentioned races. thats my only gripe. keep the helm shown option checked though and problem solved.

I'm loving it! I'm still not sure where to put my talent points, though. I don't fully understand the class mechanics yet, and it's frustrating. I think I'll just go with the flow and not worry about it for a while.

Oh, and I think the female gnome DKs are absolutely adorable. Female dwarf DKs can be frightening. Pick the "angry face" with one of the DK-only ghoulish skintones and you'll know exactly what I mean. *shudders* Oh! And male gnomes! You can make them look SO creepy. Tiny little pink-haired gnome chewing on my leg... eep!

I never thought I'd be excited about WoW again, but WotLK has mezmerized me. This is WoW at it's finest. From the excellent intro quests and writing, to the incredible DK visuals. Loving it.

Play one. It's worth trying out even just to do the opening quests.

The story instances and such do sound cool. I guess WoW is finally trying to match up with DDO and LotRO in that regard. I'm not trying to sound bitchy... I just think it's a good concept and I'm glad more MMORPGs are pushing things like that beyond some intro cinematic.

@8

Evi, try speccing for Blood for levelling, good DPS output while the talents return your health giving you very little downtime.

I've rolled one to 60 and am liking it so far. Now he is just going to sit in Honour Hold Inn gathering double XP for a bit, while my mage gets back in to the old grind routine :)

It's an entirely different class. It feels very... button mashy at times, but when you think about it, it's gonna be crazy min/maxxing at 80.

My main is a 'Lock, and playing a melee class is way different for me.

I am loving the unholy spec. Rolling through mobs of 2-3 guys serveral levels higher then me whilst my little undead buddy chews on my opponants.... hell's yes.

I'm having fun. Only problem is I keep having to help my GF grind the remain 15 levels she needs so she can play a DK. *sigh* The things we do for love. :P
