I really hate the way EQ has gone and this is just another nail in the coffin. I miss the days when you did not know where *you* were, never mind having everything else marked on a moving map :-(

Though I miss it I don't play EQ any more. The rot set it in when they introduced Planes Of Power and we lost the satisfaction of journeying across the face of the world on foot, fighting every step of the way, just to see what was there; I also miss the sheer panic of getting killed in a strange place and realising you forgot to move your spawn point so you have to do it all again without any equipment :-) I have tried to restart several times but after 15 minutes I just think 'I cannot be bothered' and log out for another year.

To each their own. ;) I grew to hate EQ for the same reasons you loved it. I hated getting lost, I hated corpse running, I hated losing experience... I am much happier in games where one wrong move won't set me back a few hours of play.

I like a challenge, but I don't like anything that makes things harder then they have to be either. Rarely are there MMO's that can achieve this balance.
