I don't think everything is promised but overall I enjoy the game. I think the biggest complaint always has to do with not enough people being around to play with. Less servers would have been better at release, transfers should help this out, offering a charged transfer to server of choice would be smart as well.

The other complaint is everyone is in scenarios 24/7. They should copy planetsides instant action button for insta warp to world rvr hotspots, and make it easier to get back to scenario quest areas, allow being able to bind to two places at once perhaps? I always find myself wanting to not wander too far so I can still turn in the scenario quests.

In a word, YES.
best PvP since pre-cu star wars galaxies.
Looking forward to the Dec character balance.

Cant agree more. Best PvP since pre-cu SWG days and so so easy to get into. Apart from a few big balance issues (Bright Wizards hello?) everything is great.

I hope they bring in cross server scenario ques though and take scenarios out of the RvR points system. It would promote more open field RvR and reduce the ques considerably. I dont even mind pairing servers up and giving them cross server ques. Anything to open up PvP more.

December im really looking forward to. The balancing of classes in particular BWs, additional classes, bonuses to defending and attacking keeps in open RvR and more secret features too should make things very interesting.

Overall WAR has hit what it meant to hit and thats PvP. The PQs need a rework such as a scenario type group signup feature but apart from that everything is great. They are firing out fixes left right and center and even the crashing issues i had originally have been fixed.

Im happy anyway

The game is a ton of fun, especially in lower tiers, but there is no motivation at T4. With only 1 hour skirmishes at the most every other night in open rvr and no rewards beyond a 1 in a billion chance of winning a gold bag to get a piece of mediocre loot from a keep pq, the game lacks reason to keep playing at T4.

I think the only thing they did wrong was over extend the population.

Complaining about end game, one month out is petty. Barely 7% of the playerbase (characterwise) is anywhere near T4

http://www.waralytics.com/warservers/index

So, the vocal minority bitching about "meaningless endgame" are going to do that w/ any game.

I think it's far to early to pass judgement on that. But, ORvR, PQs, Scen and the mirade of other PvP aspects were certainly delivered. The PvE is the only linar and boring part of the game for me.

The funny thing is that the ones complaining about the endgame don't even know what "endgame" means. The Endgame is all you do after you reach the cap, and that includes the whole tier 4 RvR AND the PvE dungeons.
Naysayers have this silly theory that the endgame is only the ultimate goal of the game, which would be capital cities, Nothing could be more wrong. There's a whole campaign to be played and on the PvE side the dungeons are most definately a big chunk of content that has to be explored. Not only warhammer has the most content at release than any other MMORPG at the time of it's launch, but this extends to the endgame as well. There's more scope and things to do than people even understand.

So yes, Mythic delivered on their promises more than any other MMO developer did when their launched their games. perfection isn't of this world, but the game definately is on the right track.

I would like to reserve judgement until after the big December patch, but if I had to give an answer right now it would be a resounding NO.

I'm praying Mythic can get a better handle on class balance and squash the plethora of spell graphics bugs that are ruining what could be a truely great game.

Class balance is better than in most other games i played at launch. It's an ongoing process, and that works for every game. As for the bugs you talk about, they're hardly gamebreaking. They'll be sure solved in due time (and for sure they have nothing to do with mythic keeping their promises, which they did).

- Abriael, from your comments, I'm assuming you haven't been in T4 for very long, if at all. A majority of my guild and my alliance (100+ people on Averheim server, destro side) are increasingly getting bored of playing in T4. Order is non existant, and when they are they only come out to ORVR for less than 2 hours. The only action at T4 is serpent's passage, which has been going for almost 5 weeks constantly and is not only a bad map, it's getting increasingly boring playing only it. The only dungeon to do is Bastion Stair, and it has one chance of loot for 1 person out of 6 every 24 hours, for each boss on each wing.

Many classes in T4 see game breaking problems with their class, from abilities that do not work, or just the overall large amount off CC that makes melee useless. While I'm sure you will counter with the argument of, "well you shouldn't of leveled so fast", T4 is the end game.

My alliance has attempted to cap Altdorf several times. The first time we were successful, but a bug with the bright wizards destroyed us in the 2nd PQ. On our 2nd attempt, we could not even lock kadrin's valley even after grinding pq's for 6 hours and the entire zone capped, with T2 and T3 locked in destro favor, with ZERO order resistance. Then a new patch came out that made VP easier to gain, but when we went to push Altdorf the server crashed and the entire HEvDE zone was borked for 3 days.

The game has problems at T4, most of us in this range are PRAYING that 1.1 solves alot of these problems. We love this game, but it has some major flaws at this level.

RWS,

Do you see how few people are in T4?

It’s not a priority right now. All those screaming to fix it, need to realize that the majority of players are hitting late T2 and early T3 now.

Like I said, the vocal minority are the only ones that are having problems. Instead of coddling the small percentage of players that have hurried through to the end content, Mythic is (business smart) taking focus of where the largest number of players are. T2 & T3. As more and more level through, their focus will be on improving the stability of T4.

7% of the player base is in T4… 7%. That’s 7% that’s lvl 33+.

20% of all created characters are in T3 and 40% of all created characters are in T2. I’ll even consent that 50% of those in T2 are alts or abandoned characters, still bringing the total to 40%. That’s x4 the number in T4.

So, focusing on making the leveling/content/fun enjoyable for the majority of the players is the best thing to do. Personally, like a lot of other forums, I’d suggest those that want epic level RvR & Raiding only should walk away for 4 months and come back, when the T4 numbers will really swell.

(fyi – roughly 31% are in T1, but that has to include a lot of alts also).

@RanWitScissorz: unfortunately for your theory, I've been in T4 for a long time (longer than most), and RVR is definately enjoyable.
People play serpents because a certain game educated players to have it easy, that having to organize a group is a chore, and that everything should be about instant gratification, which is honestly pathetic.

That sucks, but it isn't the game's fault and there's more than enough people that stick to RvR on phoenix throne anyway. I purposedly looked for a server where lots of guilds from daoc were going, and RvR is lively as it can be. Maybe you should have done the same.

The core of Warhammer is definately entertaining but it's glaringly obvious they shipped too early. Not as bad as AoC or Vanguard's release...but not as polished as WoW's. All in all assuming it gets the fixing and polish it needs WAR will definately be a healthy contender in the MMO market.

As polished as wow? Wow didn't even have decent servers at launch, and had TONS of issues, even glaringly gamebreaking ones (this not even mentioning balance, which was horrible, and in certain ways still is):

Let me guess, Wjowski, WoW was your first MMOG and you started playing around 2006? It appears that you have very little experience in other MMOGs and if you feel WoW was so polished when it was released you were, obviously, NOT THERE AT RELEASE!

In other words, Sunday Tuesday Friday Up!

Oh noes. Fanboys.

For the record, I've played all sorts of MMOs from Ultima Online to Everquest to even EVE for a short bit. WoW's release was quite smooth compared to the train-wrecks that came before it (Anarchy Online...or EQ's Shadows of Luclin expansion for example), and as far as my experience goes, it was alot smoother than WAR's.

" As for the bugs you talk about, they're hardly gamebreaking."

They most certainly are gamebreaking for certain classes. Take Sorc for example, when using Pit of Shades the graphics will often get stuck on you until you zone or die. So you're stuck running around with a giant neon purple 30' doughnut permanently attached to you. Not only does it take up 2/3 of your screen, but other players, even the enemy, can see it too. It makes you an instant target in RvR and I would most certainly call that game breaking.

The graphics issue is not a gamewide bug. If the graphic shows up on your screen it doesnt mean it will show up on other's screen too. Its down to a graphics bug on the users system. If a person in your group or the enemy get it at the same time when you ability goes off then yeah you'll see the bugged spell animation too but its not a guarantee.

I run with 2 sorcs as their healer in pvp and they get it alot but more often than not when one person gets it we cant see it. Other times one of us might also see it if we are on top of each other in a fight.

But yeah its still irritating regardless of its pvp implications. They fixed my covenants when they used to do this so i have faith they'll fix that too.

The game crashes to desktop every single time I play, I'd call that a game breaking bug. Well, it's a memory leak most likely but it's still pretty bad. The frame rate is always terrible even on low settings and I see no justification for it. It's not like all the textures are high rez and the world is overly filled with detail. I can play other 'current' games on the same machine with no crash or frame rate problems so the fault is clearly with their game engine/code.

There's a big difference in machine juice needed between a MMORPG and any other kind of "current" game.
I have no performance problem whatsoever, and my PC isn't even stellar (athlon dual core 2.4 ghz, 2 gigs of ram, geforece 9800 gtx), so maybe it's time to upgrade your 4 years old machine?

There is a performance issue, on the server side, once again I doubt you do much in T4. When there is more than 1 Wb on a keep lord or door, EVERYONE in our warband says the fight is stuttered. This includes the frequent server crashes when we get 200-400 people in a T4 zone for a keep assault.
