Ahh, Vanguard. A great game bogged down with so many problems is still undeniably a great game. SOE has given us the chance to introduce this game to a new player in a big, big way. Today we're giving away the Collector's Edition of Vanguard, plus a 90 day game card to extend your time in-world for a third of a year. Four months of game time if you include the free month that comes with the account! We've got a ton more swag for you on top of that greatness; we'll throw in an SOE podcast t-shirt, SOE-branded binocs, and a DC Universe Online pen/flashlight that shines the Bat Symbol! Estimated total retail value of the pack is $100.
All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this post telling us what your favorite under-appreciated MMO is. Are you fan of Planetside, or perhaps Dungeons and Dragons Online? Let us know! To get the Vanguard pack you'll need to comment before 7:00 AM EST Friday, November 7th. You can only enter once per person, and after the contest closes we'll ship out this fantastic prize to one randomly-selected winner. Give us at least a week to ship out this massive pile of swag, though. To win you must be age 18 or up and a resident of the US or Canada (excluding Quebec). For full eligibility details, we suggest you read our official rules. Good luck!

I have to agree I really wish Vanguard had a better release I have been watching the changes to the game and I think it might be time to give it a shot.

My favorite underdog MMO was definitely AutoAssault. Obviously it shut down a while back but it had good things going for it. The story was great and the combat was maliciously fun. Unfortunately it just didn't have enough polish or people interested in it to keep it going.
RIP AA!

I'd have to say Auto Assault as well. I never played it, but the concept always appealed to me. I'm kind of sad I never got around to trying it out.
I have to throw out Hellgate London too, even though it wasn't really an MMO in the standard sense. I always thought a first-person Diablo game would be a great idea. I still do to be honest.

My favorite underdog MMO is DDO, as I'm quite vocal about. I do really like the hardcore though, so I really hope to be lucky here!

I still miss AutoAssault. If only they'd managed to get the teaming right, instead of focusing on the PVP. Imagine hooking up and trying to protect a caravan of trucks going down the interstate... even manning different parts of a truck.

It is diffidently Vanguard SoH. Even with (3) GTX 280 FTW’s running in 3-Way SLI it still is taxing on my system. It has gotten better over the years, but once the newness of a game wears off and on top of that gets unfavorable remarks because of performance it’s hard to turn a game around. Luckily those who have been working through it make it a very enjoyable community, those who do give it a whirl tend to enjoy it, and word of mouth is everything.

For me it's Vanguard. When I first played it reminded me so much of why I loved MMOs and brought back the feeling I had when I first played Everquest. It's such a great game!

My favorite unappriciated MMO is Tabula Rasa. It might be because it's a Sci-Fi MMO and the genre has more people into the fantasy ones, but the game is really good for it's PvE content. Bane invasions at the control bases are the best ever as several ships fly in to drop off an army of the enemy knocking on the door. Also, the way the enemies spawned by being teleported in is better then the the randomly spawning like in other games.
The only problem is the game was a late bloomer and lacks several things that were initially said being developed in the Beta over a year ago (such as PAUs, guild owned bases, ect). Now, I've heard a few of these things have gone in, yet others are still not there. Also, the PvP is very empty and is missing something (cannot quite put my finger on it, but it's something).
