It's all over. Now we wait. After decades (ok, so it may not have been that long), the Wrath of the Lich King beta has finally ended this morning at 2am EST. According to the official announcement released last night, "In preparation for the launch of the game next Thursday, November 13, we will be bringing down our beta realms at 12:00 AM PST. Thanks again, and see you soon in Northrend! "
This last minute announcement inevitably rubbed a few people the wrong way. Why was there no end-beta event? Why wasn't there more advanced notice? Does Blizzard even owe the players anything more than they gave? It is a beta, afterall. These are all questions flooding the forums today, and we'd like to know how you feel about it. Let us know in the comments below!

They'd stopped looking at the beta forums or paying attention to data from beta about a week ago, so it's more a formality than anything. It might have been nice to leave it up until the xpac went live, but it doesn't really matter.
Being in beta and getting to have a small say in the direction of the game is pretty cool, and any one who wants more than that should probably give their key to some one else who doesn't.

Um, the realms are still up, so... am I missing something?

I don't feel like I'm owed anything, but I was hoping they'd do another end-of-beta event. Oh well.

I was able to log in before the servers went poof to get the last few screenshots I'd been meaning to take of my now non-existent level 80 DK. It might have been nice to get a little bit more advance warning (the only reason I was able to get those screenshots was because I was up early in order to go vote), but they don't really owe us anything.
I guess this was just another attack of their traditional "can't pre-announce the patch date before the realms are actually down and being patched" policy (after all, ending the beta would confirm that they aren't testing 3.0.3 anymore), but that's a separate issue.
