Last week, we gave you our initial impressions of the upcoming sci-fi MMO Global Agenda. Yet, even in a 1200-word article, it's difficult to express fast-paced action and innovative gameplay successfully. Luckily, Hi-Rez Studios has just released their newest promotional video for the game, and it speaks volumes.
In this video, we get a glimpse into what the game is all about from the developers' perspective. Executive Producer Todd Harris, Senior Game Designer Scott Zier and Art Director Chuk Vinson take us through some of the game's basic mechanics, accompanied by some spectacular in-game footage of combat, character advancement and more! This is one of those videos so packed full of info and visuals that you'll need to watch it a few times to take it all in. Check it out embedded just after the jump below, and be sure to check out our Global Agenda gallery, which includes some new screenshots just released today!

It ALMOST looks like PlanetSide but with prettier graphics and a more 'open' PvP...

yeah, still does look PlanetSide-ish. I just couldn't get over the so horribly obvious scripted talk in that video. XD I give the game props for using the Unreal 3 Engine but I hope they don't think that it will save what could be poor game play.
I am looking forward to a better explanation as to how the game mechanics will work. Hoping it will give a better description of how it's not like Planetside, or is.

Ok, that was the worst presentation of a game I've ever seen.
1. Mmm ok so you "deliver fast paced explosive combat in a persistent evolving online world".... so like Planetside, which failed in the market. Maybe the market has changed since then, lets hope. Also the definition of 'persistent world', at least for me, is not lots of scenarios and a shop to buy your stuff.
2. "Players can create their own in game agencies"... So you mean a guild then. I'm going to be honest that's not really a feature, its a standard. I smell FPS developers looking to jump on the MMO band wagon here.
3. Oooh! I get more equipment and abilities as I play, ground breaking! Again, in the FPS market I'm sure its all new and sparkly, but its old hat for most of us. Any new ideas boys?
4. And I quote "Our art style delivers a powerful combat experience, which while stylised, still maintains an intense kinetic realism". Ok guys sack your Copy Writer, people don't talk like that.
5. "Are you the mercenaries for hire? The traitors that sold out...blah blah". So you'll be focusing on Role Playing in the game then? Mmm I thinks maybe you will not. Please don't try to make out your world has some deep Role Play elements.
At the moment the game looks like a 'persistent' *cough* FPS with character advancement, which is not a new concept. All this is no bad thing if its fun to play, but don't try to dress it up to be something it's not. If you want to impress the veteran MMO player you'll need to create a world with a deep and engaging back story and some innovative gameplay (that's new ideas, not FPS elements ported to a shallow MMO).
This was NOT a good intro to the game, at least not for me. However I'd like to say good luck and I really do hope you produces a great game. I'll be very happy to be proved wrong.

Agree with Purkit. Also as styij said... I had thought this was a real "James Bond" spy game, wow this is looking like another FPS game... Nice graphics, but that means little, that should be a given. And as mentioned, I also have to say, in the spirit of what I was hopeing for here, some exotically named super-model-esque femme-fatale needs to slip some poison into their PR-mens coffee (while seducing them of course in a tropical 3rd world hotel bedroom), that was painful to listen to the PR-crap. "intense kinetic realism" that just makes my ears bleed to hear...

I though it looked pretty good, though im still waiting for more screenies and video from Earthrise. It is however nice to see that there is a big push for Sci-Fi MMOs. I dont know about you guys but ive had my fill of fantasy/high fantasy games for a while.

I have to agree with Pandanapper on this "I just couldn't get over the so horribly obvious scripted talk in that video" WTH. They sound like used car salesmen. That totally turned me off. It may be a decent game when it comes out but based off that I won't be holding my breath.

Definitely gave me the Planetside vibe, but I don't count that as a bad thing.
I can't count the number of former PS players who have stated that they are always longing for a successor to PS. This could be it.
Planetside had some issue, but frankly, have of those had to do with its management by SOE.
The other half were based on not having enough goals to give the fighting meaning...from the discription of this game, the deve team took note of that issue.
I'm going to be keeping an eye on this one, and wouldn't be suprised to play it and find some old PS friends there.

I'm all in for Planetside with better tech and more world goals.
So the talk was scripted. It is GOOD to see a dev team that actually looks excited for a change! Maybe they'll even be excited about supporting their community. Unlike SOE/PS.
