At this point, I don't care about it, even a little. Perhaps, maybe I'll care when more info is released about the character creation options (I'm a customization whore). But Star Wars has been done as an MMO, yay, more of the same.... -_-

like all new MMOs, I'm cautiously optimistic. If it looks interesting, I'll pick it up and try it. The real test is whether or not I continue to pay for it longer than one month.

It certainly doesnt look like anything new. Even the graphics already seem outdated, even for an MMO. Maybe it looks better in super high res, but those screens dont look like anything special to me. They look as mediocre as DCUO.

Personally I was underwhelmed by the announcement. Especially considering no console version was announced for any platform. That's a kick in the pants considering where the franchise came from.

I don't want any more MMORPGs on PC. They're all too derivative of one another.

A) Those are pre-alpha screenshots. If you're able to get disappointed in something that's not even in alpha yet I don't know why you visit an MMO blog.

B) MMOs on consoles are just a bad idea. Sorry.

I think the artwork has an artistic originality to it. I would like to see what the UI looks like and to see some actual game play footage. So far I like the fact that decisions will effect the game world. I am a vet in SWG and I am happy to see a new star wars mmo appear on the market from Bioware.

I am confident in Bioware's ability to design and release solid games. If you have looked at the engine they are using you can see how fast content can be designed on the fly. Jim Ward is no longer at LA to push them around. It will be finished when it is ready. If they can stick to that Bioware ethic then I feel the game will be good.

I do hope they will have a player home of some sorts and atmospheric flight. Plus a space game. And vehicles upon release.

Most of all I don't have to select Jedi as a profession. And that brings a smile to my face. I wonder if SOE will now allow a classic Pre CU server now for all the vets?

I'd be in shock if this wasn't coming to the consoles, because both companies are very much console centric these days, even though they have their roots in PC gaming.

Personally, if people didn't think Warhammer Online did anything new and great, then prepare to be drastically underwhelmed by this game. Not only will it be generic MMO gameplay, it will probably come off seeming light and not fully flushed out.

But I see this as a console MMO, and I highly doubt they wouldn't do it. Probably only thing keeping them from announcing it is trying to work things out with Microsoft and/or Sony and getting around their need to verify all uploaded content, since MMO's need regular patching, and that long verification process for console networks doesn't work well with patching.

It's a Star Wars MMO brought to you by the guys who did Shadowbane and Star Wars Galaxies. What could possibly go wrong?

Odd, I don't recall Bioware being a part of Shadowbane or SWG.

in all honesty im a little dissappointed in the screenshots so far, and the lack of a mando faction or even a 3rd faction. ill keep an eye on it and participate in the community but until there is more info, and a confirmed pvp server im going to keep Earthrise on the top of my list for my next MMO

Naturally, I'm excited for the game and hope that it is good. That being said, I just don't see how compelling a mmorpg can be made with just jedi. You need diversity in a mmo, and jedi just don't have enough diversity. Hopefully, I'm wrong, but I'd still rather see a new SWG that improves on the base game rather then trying to transform to star wars wow. This is not to say I had any delusions about Bioware creating a sandbox-type mmo. They are planning to release exactly what I thought they would.

The cartoony graphics disappointed me a lot. BioWare has some really good engines licensed and they could have worked on something good but honestly this is just plain 1990's looking. Heck their KOTOR games look better than this. It's ok to cater to the low end but there are several good engines which scale well and the color pallete they chose is too WoW like. I hate the fact that except AoC(which has its own problems) no other MMO has tried to move the graphics bar higher.
Also, please don't tell me its an artistic choice cause that's just bull crap. A game set in the Star Wars setting should look more industrial and technical and look like sharp, this just looks plain horrible.
Sorry if I angered anyone but this is a personal opinion not meant to disparage anyone.

This is going to be great. I have HUGE faith in Bioware.

I just hope they make it feel like a real "place", as Blizzard did with Azeroth (open world, lots to explore) as opposed to Age of Conan (closed world, on rails)

Don't mind the cartoony look so much as the decision to pair that up with ridiculous chunky lightsabers. Where's the cool factor in hitting someone with a laser baseball bat?

I replayed both Kotor games recently and have to agree that the art style there fit the universe better. Nothing to beat several thin, shimmering lightsabers carving coloured trails through thre air. This does look a bit like WOW with a Star Wars skin. Hmm.

This will be the greatest MMO ever created. Its what SWG should have been except they sold the rights to Sony.

As much fun as bashing SOE is...quite frankly LucasArts is just as much to blame for SWG's failure.

Not a huge fan of the art direction I've seen so far. The super deformed light sabers look really bad. Take a look at the screenshot form the press conference with the Jedi confronting the Sith in a force choke hold. Look at the lightsaber in his hand, and the one hanging from her belt (her suit looks great btw). They are two times larger than they need to be. HUGE! However, I have faith that Bioware will put out a kick arse MMO, and I cannot wait to get into this game world. Also, I have learned not to judge MMOs by screenshots. The real beauty typically comes when things are set in motion. This game is going to be the first contender to WoW.

I didn't like it when

-they said this game will support on the old gamestyle of the top-tier mmos out there.

and

-a Q&A actually says shamefully that the majority of the game will be played SOLO, and the above Q&A goes "yes it's a mmo, you play with thousands of players"

doesn't make any sense

i think the phrase used was "CAN be played solo".

as a person who has little time to find a group or set up a group but likes to play along with, not neciseraly with, my friends i happen to really like the fact that ther are and will be games a player can solo. if that option is not available there would be no reason, really, for me to even play an MMORPG.

setting up a system to essentially force players to group shuts out a good percentage of potential players. doing that is just bad business.
