In an interview with gamesindustry.biz, Mythic CEO Mark Jacobs was asked if he thought the upcoming Wrath of the Lich King PvP changes were coming in response to Warhammer Online. "Oh absolutely," was Jacobs' response to the query. "I think imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." The often-vocal CEO continued by pointing out that World of Warcraft has been out four years and that this addition of PvP leveling and focused open PvP seems to be coming right after the launch of Warhammer Online.
So is World of Warcraft aping its newest competition? Probably a little bit, yeah. Jacobs is right to point out that Jeff Kaplan himself said Blizzard likes to look at other games and learn from them. Now Mythic just has to keep itself one step ahead of the competition, which should be a challenge.

No! WoW totally stole shadows from WAR. Warhammer had shadows WAY before WoW did; when will people realize that whole idea came from people putting miniatures on tables and watching the figures cast shadows, and now WoW's stealing something ELSE from Warhammer. Great job, Blizzard, thanks. First movement and now shadows, and then PvP experience. What's Blizzard going to steal next? Probably Jedi.
