Guys, IGN already has an exclusive story up about the game. It is named Star Wars: The Old Republic, and it is an MMO (of course). The cartoony graphics are kinda throwing me though.

Since the abortion of the SWG beta have I waited for this day. Do not fail me, Bioware. The Force is too strong in this one.

Massively, can you please stand up at the end and shout....

'YEAH THAT'S GREAT AND ALL, BUT CAN U PEE VEE PEE!!!!'

My questions :

1) Three classes so far, Jedi, Sith and an Elite Troop of some sort, bounty hunters are also mentioned, but nothing about races?

2) Space fighting, can you do it, will they have atmospheric flight too?

3) Narrative story line goes so far, what are the longer term aims for the game in terms of content?

4) When is it out?

While cautiously optimistic (we've all been smitten and then disappointed by that new game smell)

- I like the time period.

- Ever present worry about Jedi/Sith being overpowered and not balanced enough. Other classes need appeal so not everyone is one of those classes.

- Since the most substantial thing presented here are the screenshots...That cartoony look is pretty disappointing. The characters in those screenies look like what I call "Advanced 2008 Dragon's Lair graphics". http://www.djgallagher.com/games/classics/dragonslair/screen.php?screen=43

All that wait for graphics like this? Why the hell does everyone think their games need to look like WoW to be successful? This looks like polished crap. Look at the lightsabers in the screenshots at www.swtor.com- they look like the thick end of a baseball bat.

Horrible, horrible character design, guys. The first KOTOR looks better than this.

"Why the hell does everyone think their games need to look like WoW to be successful?"

Because games with toned down graphics can run on more PCs which means more subscribers to your game which means more money. And with an attractive license like KotOR, they'll easily get people from all specs of computer.

And like it or not, the WoW artstyle(low polygon count, high resolution textures) is easy on many computer systems, and runs on many different computers.

yeah, but you can have a non-cartoony, nice art style and still get good performance. LOTRO, for example, has a more realistic character/armor/weapon style, but it's still simple. EQ2, while tough on systems back then, runs pretty well nowadays, and has a completely different art style. *shrugs* It's not a complete deal breaker for me, but it does count as something bleh.
