many seem to overlook that the lab either already has oder will soon have established a new revenue stream independent from the Second Life virtual world: Grid technologies - with customers from IBM downwards.
this also means LL may easily be able to keep up competetive prices on the SL grid if and when some day alternative public grids offer reliable services and economies.
