Well this change for me was a other reason to say bye to warhammer and not renew.

Warhammer VS WoW is becoming a hell of a battle and that's cool finally WoW is getting better and in turn Warhammer will have to get better.

I may end up flip/flap between this two games for some time.

I see two issues for this in WoW:

1. Can you improve your combat skills via pvp; bows, swords, defense, etc.

and

2. Twinks will hate this option - they've spent hundreds of gold twinking their chars so that they can have an advantage over the other nubs.

Oh, and Tom Chilton is the biggest piece of S*&T at Blizzard.

This is actually going back to the OLD ways. From what I've read, it will be the same as it was prior to patch 1.12. You turn in tokens and get experience only then. I actually leveled my first character entirely from 40-48 through pvp turn-ins.

If it is like this then it wouldn't even be worth it. You got such low XP.

Three thoughts:

1.) You won't be forced to gain experience from the battlegrounds. It'll be a system like before, where you can turn in a set of tokens for about a quest's worth of XP.

2.) I don't think it's going to be likely that someone will be able to level ALL the way from 10-80 without boring themselves out of their mind. The battlegrounds in WoW are few in number, and have been around virtually unchanged forever. PVP isn't going to be a viable way to level all the way to the cap, but it'll be a nice way to get a little boost for those levels you're stuck at.

3.) Being on the low end of a bracket is not conducive to victory. Having a bunch of 10s join a Warsong queue because they want to level is not gonna be a great thing.

Oh, that will be nice if people can turn in tokens for exp again, I have 100 of each and I wind up having to delete a ton of them out of my mailbox often.

Lol @ Blizzard on a roll of blatantly copying everything they can from their competition. Smells like panic.

Too bad that the flaw of wow's PvP is not that you can't earn experience, but that it's completely flat, boring and ultimately meaningless. And a few xp awarded to players getting bored in it won't change that.

Just curious, but how old are you? You seem to find the time to post immature comments to nearly every WoW/WAR article. Isn't it about time you grew up and realized that every MMO has borrowed ideas from someone else? You seriously can't be stupid enough to think that everything Mythic has done is 100% original...so give it rest.

It's not the fact that they're copying something, but the timing. They came out with their own version of an RvR zone AND exp from PvP at the same time as the Warhammer release. That's what draws attention to it. Now like I state lower, there is still a part of me that is rooting for WoW, but I will say that I find it quite rediculous and sad that they state that PvP is not a focus of their game, yet they still throw all this stuff that other games are just now doing, and they STILL won't balance the game for PvP. I wouldn't have a problem with this if it wasn't a contradiction and a pointless effort to bring something to what is an extremely poor PvP system.

@JoeF: funny that you call others immature and then you throw in such fanboysh comments:
There's quite some different by not being "100% original" like warhammer and other games are (but despite borrowing SOME ideas from previous instances of the genre they still work into implementing new and original features), and being "100% copied" like WoW is.
Blizzard invented nothing, they didn't even make the effort to devise a single innovative mechanic. They simply borrowed other people ideas and work and put them in a big cauldron to make their game. The sad thing is that they're doing so even now. Every little thing added to wow since it was opened and every feature included in wotlk is nothing else than a copycat of something included in some other game, most from warhammer.

Looks like the only expression of their own creativity is a way to juice some more money from you guys. Have fun with it.

I'm going to preface this statement by saying that I am a Warhammer player first and foremost. I love the game. It's great.

That being said, everyone who's saying, 'LOL BLIZZARD IS PANICKING IN THE FACE OF WARHAMMER LOOK HOW STUPID THEY ARE OHMIGOD,' you're pretty dull. They're taking a key from their competitor that worked and using it in their own game. It's a smart move. It's not like everyone in the MMO world doesn't know where the idea came from anyway.

However, despite this being a good thing (Screw you, twinks!) I still feel that WoW has some major improvements to be made before their PvP - which has been around for years now - is on par with WAR's - which has been around for about a month.

Oh, and after reading some of the other comments, if it's true that you won't be forced to earn XP through PvP, then I can't say I'm an all-around fan of this change. I mean, it's still a good thing, but being forced to earn XP from your kills and wins would eliminate twinking, which is one of the biggest killers of fun in WoW PvP today. There's no point in going into any battleground before the level cap, because you're just going to get steamrolled by twinks with too much gold on their hands. WoW needs to remedy this, ASAP, or I'll definitely be sticking with Warhammer, thanks very much.

Leveling up inside WSG and AB, over and over... sounds like so much fun....

Will you gain money from PVP kills? Where will your gear come from?

Abriael did Blizzard rape you and your family or something?

In every single WoW new you show up and mock WoW/Blizzard for whatever they have done.

Seriusly if you love WAR so much then play it instead of posting useless crap, no one wants to hear it.

hard NOT to mock them :D They can't get a SINGLE original idea (Wow has copied everything since the very start, beginning with the backstory and going on with every single mechanic in the game). Originality isn't the most important feature in a game, but at the very least most other developers try hard to put something new in their games to give players some fresh air. What blizzard does is just looking around and picking cherries from other games.

The only original thing wow players will see is the combination of the pay to play model with microtransactions. Great idea!

...

oh, wait...

I dislike guys like Abriael. There are a few of them on the Conan (and I'm sure other MMO) forums that endlessly bash the game and refuse to move on. If you don't like the game fine, just stop raping our eyeballs with your mindless drivel. LOLPWNDSUXORSMOVEONFTW!

"..if a player levels from 10 - 80 entirely in the battlegrounds, he or she will not have the necessary experience to run instances and raids at later levels.."

The vast majority of levelling done now is through solo questing, which doesn't give you the necessary experience to run instances and raids either. So I don't see how this would be anything different.

If anything, battlegrounding would better prepare you, since at least you're around other people, and seeing what other classes are capable of. Some rare birds might even be healing in the battlegrounds!
