According to a recent market report, Warhammer Online now has a half a million registered users. This isn't boxes sold to retailers or projected numbers, this is 500k people who have registered to play Warhammer Online.
These numbers come only one week after the game first went on sale, as publisher Electronic Arts claims the title of the fastest-selling MMO of all time. "In just one week we have a half a million people playing WAR online, and the ranks of Order and Destruction are growing at a record-breaking pace for a new MMORPG," offered Mark Jacobs, co-founder of Mythic Entertainment. Whether this sales trend will continue to rise, or taper off, is yet to be seen, but it will be interesting to keep an eye on WAR to see if EA's record-breaking claims hold true.

But, but... didn't like a billion people sign up for the beta according to the ticker on the mythic front page?
There is no victory for them in my mind until they either surpass that number or admit that it was really a BS metric.

I wouldn't say it was a BS metric, just another marketing tool. All it showed is that's how many people signed up, not how many were in it, or how many intended to buy. It was in no way indicative of the launch player base.

Mythic decided not to bother making a Mac version of WAR. Almost 47% of WoW players play on a mac....
Talking about alienated one group of gamers!
Warhammer Online seems to be doing OK for its first week, we've yet to see how it fares after the free trial month runs out!

LOL! 47%? link the source. And not some random post on the forums, where some guy claims he did an ingame interview on his server and polled it.
47%. LOL. WoW has 10 mil players, and 5 mill active subs. 47% is roughly 2.2 mil players. lol. What a load. Thanks for the laugh buddy.

47% play on Mac's?
Maybe 47% of Mac gaming is WoW, but not 47% of WoW players. Only reason that would be is because there isn't a lot of gaming for Mac's, so their options are limited.
But that is not true at all. Might want to re-read wherever you read that from. Or did you just make it up?

Yeah thats a great number.. But its probably all people who have already been addicted to wow and have jumped ship waiting for WOTLK to be released.
Blizzard has done all the work here by getting all these players addicted to playing a fantasy based mmo.
If i didnt only have Mac computers then i probably would have tried it out also not because it looks like the best game in the world but because im bored of the game im playing and im over leveling new characters just for the sake of it.
