Maybe... I've had 2 so far spam me, but it should slow down as the head start is over and everyone is actually paying for an account. Right now there's absolutely no demand for gold in game (nothing much to spend it on besides a mount, standard, or making a guild). It'll be a somewhat crappy investment and they'll hopefully disappear. Having to pay 50 bucks a pop for there advertising when they're not making any profits ought to hurt.

From Mark's post on VN, he said that'll be the second part. Currently they're just banning the spammers as they're the easiest to get and require the least manpower.

Despite what he and Mythic announced earlier this year, how War would not have any gold-seller problem, it appears now their only tactic is to pro-actively ban users suspected of trading.

I do understand and agree with his stance, but it's just not realistic; you can't bully them, you can't ban them all, and unless you open your game up for RL transactions (like Eve did), you're always going to have some gold-seller problem ruining your game.

I wonder if Jacobs ever feels bad when he lies so much.

1) I've had the same gold spammer whispering me for at least 5 hours now.

2) Crashes to desktop do not only occur for a very small number of players.

Crashes to desktop, is that what's it's called? I just thought the game was playing hide-and-go-seek!

I love the game, but I'm running XP with up to date Nvidia drivers, and I haven't ONCE exited the game. Every time I play I have to accept the TOS again because of the crashes. Even when I exit game, it hangs. And I can't even think about Alt-Tabing during play. It crashes then too.

Small potatoes though, I love game and I'll just put up with it until it gets fixed.

Gold selling in WAR is pretty silly anyway. There are no money-sinks like in WoW, there really isn't anything you can't afford just by normally playing the game. The real investment is time spent in the RvR game, and gold sellers can't help you with that. It would be like gold sellers in WoW trying to sell you gold if all you coulc buy was Honor gear - pointless.

Unfortunately, gold selling has so permeated the MMO mindset that 1) they'll try it for a while and 2) people will reflexively buy assuming they need it, only to discover later that they wasted their (real life) money.

Hopefully it will die out.

Now, power leveling services will be the ones to really watch out for in WAR. Renown Rank 1-80 in 1 week, $199!! Woo!

I certainly hope the economy stays this way. Gold selling is a nuisance, and the best way to outsmart gold sellers is to not have a need for money in the first place. Game design for the win.

CoX stayed gold seller free for ages until enhancement loot showed up. Then they turned up in their droves, leading to some heavyhanded limits slapped on trial accounts, and they still aren't going away.
