Gaming addiction is bullcrap.

Although ever since I got to play WAR for a couple weeks, and then they took it away, it's all I can think about. I need to play it, soon.

Identify online gaming as a viable addiction - convince insurance companies to pay for treatment - Drug companies send out there army of hot and sexy lunch buying drug reps with drugs to combat the addiction - and the money keeps rolling in gotta love it...

I don't think the last word has been said about the addiction thing, but I thought it an interesting read all the same.

But I'm not sure I agree about the bit about friendships, depending on how it's intended. I guess there's something to say for the writing them off as substitutes to basic human needs, but personally my relationships to the various people I know online vary in intensity and have their ups and downs as well, just like in real life. I think maybe we humans like to categorize things too much.
