I wasn't under the impression that it was all that rare. On Virtue, the 2nd most populated server, the heroes have been successfully raiding Hamidon twice a week all year, and the villains are up to twice a month. Hamidon raids are pretty uncommon the emptier servers, sure, but so are all teams. Nor is it all that difficulty. Complex, yes, delightfully so; for once, it's an enemy that is more than just a swarm or a big back of hit points. But given anything resembling the right mix of characters, you can reliably crank one out in under two hours.

The only real obstacle lately has been on the hero side, where the trend against playing scrappers (there are a lot more blasters and controllers instead, these days), and the recent tendency towards what scrappers there are preferring to spend their time on the Imperious Task Force, has rendered it a little bit touch-and-go whether or not they can take out the outer defenses. But even then, successful raids are outnumber unsuccessful ones by at least three to one.

I played the old raid a few times as it was more accessible and I've yet to be on one of the new Hamidon raids so I don't see this changing anytime soon.
