I have seen WAR lately. It's characters actually look interesting and look animated. That movie looks like it was made by splicing screenshots together. How many frames in that swing animation? Six? Five?

Darkfall is awesome because of its features, I am amazed they are gonna make it after so much time.

The graphics are good enough to emulate and evoke its dark atmosphere, the feeling of combat, my main concern, seems like it will be good enough.

I definitely like the subtle effects (Blood... but not too much blood like in AoC AND subtle magic effects instead of a constant stream of annoying fireworks on my screen).

So... I can´t wait.

BTW, I dont dislike "too much blood", its just that I don´t think its THAT important to display it at the cost of other way more important good features. In my opinion that is a mistake that funcom did in AoC.

I do dislike constant magic-like graphic effects in every ability (even melee ones), seriously, I prefer a bit of realism. Great Job Aventurine!.

If that video was my first exposure to Darkfall, I wouldn't give it a second look...it was just hideous. I'm still looking forward to the game though.

I signed up for the beta, but I'm reserving any judgment until I can actually see the game in action with a UI or can play it myself. It's a great idea and all but that doesn't mean I'm still not worried.

From the videos and stills(which are currently still my only base for judgement) I do think that the graphics are sufficient. They are not great, but sufficient.
IMHO they are a little inconsitent though. Some character models and buildings show a lot of skill, others seem outdated (to say it mildly), one might even call some outright amateurish. Some of the landscaping appears almost naive (too steep hills and some odd placement of trees etc).
I think that these are in part due to this project being done by a fluctuating team with changing art direction over a long period of time.
The animations of the characters are really bad, sorry to say that. I thought the ones in WAR were mechanic, but the ones in DF seem outright embarassing in comparison (I saw a character jump in one video, which looked unintentionally comical).

On the game offering more than just great PvP features: Yeah that might be, but many people (people like me and my wife) wont get to see them because we will end up getting ganked every 10 meters along the way until we will just throw the towel and play something else. Sorry to say that, but thats just the way it is. PvP is great and I am sure a lot of people will love this and will love this game, I doubt though that it will be a large commercial success.

The fanaticism that Darkfall's fanboys have for this game is unbelievable. It's almost as intense as what one would see in the discussion of politics.

Daresay anything negative about the graphics and it's insta-flame.

ZOMG, who needs graphics?! You suxors!

What's even funnier is how they compare Darkfall to successful games like WoW and predict that Darkfall will dominate the MMORPG market. LOL. Darkfall has a chance to be successful but let's be realistic, it's going to have a limited audience.

Despite my enthusiastic anticipation of the release of this game, the trailer was a bit of a let down. The graphics seemed amateurish and unpolished particularly with the character motion. Still, I'm not expecting the graphics of DF to blow me away. However, I was really disappointed that the trailer didn't explain anything about the in-game mechanics. I was hoping that at this stage in the game's development I would be seeing some more details about the game instead of just a bunch of players beating the crap out of each other.

Here's hoping that DF will be a success.

First off you really need to avoid the youtube videos and download the higher quality stuff. The difference is incredible.

Second the game is being run on medium level settings on medium level computers.

Third this will not be the "New World of Warcraft" It will grab a lot of the older players who have been waiting for a PVP game, but the newer players who started with WoW have no idea how much fun this style of game can be. They have never felt the adrenaline rush you get from killing or dying. Never felt the risk vs reward aspect of gaming.

I will be quite happy to have the oldschool gamers playing alongside myself and my guild. The newer gamers just cry too much.
