This is the pvp game the mmo community has been waiting for.

One giant, open world without invisible walls or instancing. FPS Morrowind/Oblivion type combat. Clan cities and siege warfare that actually works. No levels, you practice your favorite skills like in Morrowind or Oblivion to improve them. No overpowered epic gear. Full loot. Friendly fire so you actually have to use strategy or else you might accidentally chop your friends head off.

DF doesn’t have the graphics AOC or WAR has, (although DF still looks great) but the game features are far superior to any mmo out there and more than compensate for that fact.

EA should be worried.

EA's sales were blunted a bit by DF beta because a lot of forumfallers were going to play Warhammer while waiting for darkfall. After today there's no point for them to buy the game. But seriously that doesn't matter.

What I wonder about though is whether or not Eve Online will be affected by Darkfall by having its usual positive growth rate actually turn flat or negative. What Eve offers is a lot like Darkfall but Darkfall has certain differences that has always been a criticism of Eve.

One of those is Darkfall is more interactive. It's not just interactive by following fps conventions but by also eschewing MMO conventions by trying to create the most spartan UI possible so people are playing the world and not the UI.

Another aspect is that the devs are willing to give up on their one world server to ensure big battles are possible.

Depending on your tastes differences like these make Darkfall look like a more attractive game than Eve.

Hmmm, well I dont know what you mean by game features. If you mean features for the hardcore PVP players maybe... That is not going to give it huge sales though, at least from what I understand.
To me hardcore PVP is rather unappealing (I suck at it and I play to relax not to get stressed out even more).
I will still keep half an eye on it though, check reviews and see how it develops, but please forgive my scepticism towards the claims that it is "far superior to any MMO out there".

Hey man, anything that keeps the mongoloids all in one place.

Looks like they hired animators from South Park.

Loook, bloood... oh, sorry, AoC beat them to that one.

Even though I'm currently waiting for WAR to come out in a few weeks. Darkfall has been on my mind as possibly being the exact game I want in an MMORPG. It's almost like when you play MMO after MMO the past 10 years and pick apart every game saying to yourself "If I made this game it would have.....". Well oddly Darkfall seems to have put everything I've wanted over these past 10 years into their game lol! As long as it can get the right marketing down for a worldwide launch I feel this WILL be the next HUGE HIT.

DFO's feature set does indeed make PvP awesome, but awesome PvP does NOT equal mediocre everything else.

The features that make PvP in this game so appealing also make PvE (smart and challenging AI, a need for real tactics, deep and engaging lore), crafting (almost everything can be made by players, farming, mining, blacksmithing, ship making, tailoring, etc., not to mention all the challenges that go with logistics and supply chain management), then you've got city building and management, inter-guild/inter-race politics.

And the fact that it's a sandbox means the limit to things you can do exists only in your imagination.

Meh I could never agree with that assertion. Your imagination is hindered by the tools a developer gives you to use in an MMO.

This game is not only for the hardcore pvp'r you can be quite a merchant and become a pivotal person in the Darkfall economics and political arena, if you can supply say, Dwarven metals for Mahirim furs or w/e. You can definitely play this game in a multitude of ways and many clans are looking for dedicated crafting personnel because the armies need supplies of weapons and armour.
The monsters spawn and migrate to less dangerous locations, the raid bosses take time to come back and no instances.
This game has a little to offer everyone
Pirates
Crafters
PvE'rs
PvP'rs
RP'rs
Sci-fi (Warhulks aka those hover thingies.)
Fantasy fans
Morrowind fans
Oblivion fans
Hell if you like RPG's you should like this game, ALSO I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT watching youtube first but downloading the video.
