The Daily Grind: Do you play goodies or baddies?

I think the problem with what Massively is alluding to is that they act as if only Order has humans.

Chaos has humans as well, they are just evil. So the real choices are Dwarf and Greenskin, but if you're going to not look human you might as well look cool so Greenskin wins here. Order and Chaos is both humans but Chaos has more classes and are generally "cooler" looking. Finally High Elf and Dark Elf, Dark Elf is more popular but this is balanced by the fact that there are more classes on the High Elf side.

WAR has an opportunity where WoW did not in that all their races have appeal, no one side is ugly in comparison to the other. In WoW most of the Horde races were ugly. Most people just want to look cool and if evil looks cool they will be evil.

It's been my experience in every MMO that younger people play the "good guys" a lot more than the "bad guys."

But sadly that only seems to make the "bad guys" slightly more mature than the "good guys."

Always bad.

I usually like the necromancer/warlock and thief type classes. I usually choose dark elves over regular elves, and have a penchant for races that generally look badass.

If the "good" guys weren't so typically boring, I could change it up more.

Normally I lean towards good, but in this case I have about 2k in lead Chaos mini's sitting in a case in my basement. I would be hard pressed to change my allegiance now. BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!

I play the "Don't-give-a-crap"ies. Lawful and Chaotic Neutral sums up all of my characters pretty well. A center-of-the-isle perspective gives you better insight on issues I find.

Most of the people I play are either fighters or Nature-lovers. I love me some Druids but I like Barbarian-esque types, too. I really like self-driven characters.

I typically play as the good guys. For example in SWG I played Imperial. Yes, Imperials are the good guys, upholding the law. While the Rebels are the bad guys, terrorists that believe they are right.

For Warhammer Online I will be playing a Dark Elf because the High Elves usurped Malekith's rightful place as the ruler of the Elves. While the High Elves will ally with whomever they can under the pretense of friendship we Dark Elves let our allys know that we are their superiors and that when all is said and done that they will make good slaves.

I usually play the good side. For me it went like this:

When we started RPG as kids, we always wanted to be great heroes.
When we turned teens, we realised being a bad guy is "cool". (Because we were nerds and got kicked around school? Don't know..)
Now that I'm "mature" or "adult" (silly words having nothing to do with behaving good or bad) I'm always drawn to good side.
Being evil and nasty is just too easy, thiriving for good is much harder... (just an rpg note, nothing to do with communities..)

Also I find it funny how some people want to join the side with most people, no matter if its Good or Evil.. ..why do you want to outnumber your opponent instead of having a challenge?

In WAR I'm having difficulties which class to play as main. Atm I'm most drawn to Bright Wizard.. I'm usually a melee guy, but I love burning things even more..;D
Alas, I have only a vote in our small group of friends.. ..I'm hoping it carries weight when things come to choosing. If not, well as I said, there's lot of classes I'd like to play in Dest side too. :)

PS. People thinking think Order is not Cool (tm), remember that you are only talking for yourselves or some people you know. Here's how I see a few Order classes:
Bright Wizard is hot! Fire, fire, fire!!!1
Witch Hunters are the medieval Judge Dread(s).
White Lion has something my wife was instantly drawn to.. ..I wonder what..;)
Warrior Priest are the melee healer WoW paladin should have been (?).
Engineer for love of firearms and smoke.

I always play "bad guys"-- unless Dwarves are an option. Then I play a Dwarf. :p

However, while I prefer playing bad guys, I don't care for these pretty boy bad guys who are so popular in anime and a lot of modern fantasy settings. Sephiroth, Arthas, Dark Elves... all that crap sucks the fun right out of being a bad guy. I prefer to be ugly as hell.

I don't go by if they are good or evil, I go by if they are a fun class to play. Like how in WAR, I love the engineer class, Rune Priest, Chosen, and the Marauder. All are fun classes, so it doesn't matter if they are "good" or "evil" to me
