Interesting choices but the label "Healer" still sends shivers down my spine from all the other MMOs I've played.

Never again for me.

Typical MMO:

"3 Warriors LFG with Healer!"
"3 Warriors LFG with Healer!"
"4 Warriors LFG with Healer!"
"4 Warriors LFG with Healer!"
"4 Warriors LFG with Healer!"
"5 Warriors LFG with Healer!"
"Great, thanks for joining us! Okay Pull!"
"WTF HEALER WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?!?!? WE ONLY HAD 14 ADDS YOU CAN'T KEEP UP?!?!?!?"
"WAIT DON'T LEAVE WE'LL TRY AGAIN"
"5 Warriors LFG with Healer!"

Sounds about right.

This article might screw the people that end up playing a Warrior Priest or Archmage though.

The tanks and DPS are again, as usual, going to assume that any Warrior Priest or Archmage are healers, or should heal, leaving their non-healer masteries unwanted by groups.

Hopefully this doesn't happen, but it has in just about every MMO. DAoC's been running 5-6 years 'ish and still no one plays Smite Clerics.

People don't play smite clerics because smite clerics were nerfed way back in the day. Prior to SI release, smite clerics were all you would see. You would be hard pressed to find "healing" clerics as it were. Most builds were simply 44 Smite, rest into buffs and heal. Whereas in the other realms, people had more of a choice.

In Midgard, Healers had multiple roles to play. They were main CC as well as the main heal class for the realm. In Hibernia, you had buff druids as well as heal druids (pet druids were the overlooked line of that class). People didn't stop playing smite because they couldn't get groups. They stopped playing smite because it wasn't a wizard in chain anymore.
