Your dislike of a game does not make it dead. With the sort of subscriber numbers they're seeing, they could lose a huge chuck of that 415k number and still be hugely profitable. It's going to be around for a long, long time.

For those of you who didn't play this game- Funcome essentially promised the greatest PvP game ever made. A true free for all.

They designed the most pointless PvP system I have ever seen. PvE games have been PvP systems in their duel systems than this game.

Basically. There are 80 levels. After level 35, the quests stop. So your only choice is to grind it out, 30k-60k per level and 100xp-250xp per kill.

Their must bragged about siege system was never finished. They didn't even add the actual towns\walls until 2 months into the game and started working on the rules a month after all. During a siege, the walls are not able to be destroyed and the siege weapons don't work. Also, if you died, you had a 45 minute run from the otherside of the world back to the Siege. Yeah... you gotta run everywhere.

Then, they added jewels that buff your armor\weps etc. Well, they did a recent patch that allows 2 classes to 1 hit anyone in the game.

So lack of content 35-80, lack of Sieges, no Risk vs Reward PvP system, and 1 hitters means a dead game.

My entire Guild signed up. 45 people. We all quit en-mass and actively bash the game on every game and message board. Funcom or Failcom as we call them lied to all of us and sold everyone a game still in Beta because they ran over budget and we don't appreciate it.

35-80? Complete bollocks.

I heard people whining about lack of content before but I've never experienced it, except perhaps in level 49 and 59 when you're just about to hit the next decade of quest content, and right at the end of the levels around level 77-80.

It's not a perfect game by any means; there's a few too many grind quests of the 'collect 10 scalps' variety, and if you try to play more than one character, you have to start in the same place and do the same quests up to level 20 which is deathly boring after the second time. There are also some bugs that still haven't been fixed, like crafting and content that was promised at launch isn't implemented yet, like PvP levels and experience. And what this guy says about gems is correct - a fix is promised 'soon'.

However, it remains a game that's worth playing, and I haven't begun to run out of stuff to do. It looks good, it's faster-paced than point and click combat systems like WoW and Lotro, and while some of the quests are too grindy, there's some which are brilliantly conceived.

Sieges do work now, not brilliantly because of lag issues with c.100 players in the same zone, but they can be done. 45 minute run? More nonsense. More like 45secs.

actually its a half truth the quest petter out at lvl 50ish and since there is only one zone at that lvl your are screwed getting from 50to60. There are like 4 questes each lvl you get that you can do and after that you just have to keep doing repeatable kill people quetest to get to the next lvl over and over again. Me and my friend got up to 50 and were like wtf this isnt worth it grinding is borring and we both quit. This is like 3-4 months after relase and they only have one zone for lvl 50 to 60??? It means they had poor or no planning and horrible implementation of what they did think up of. Next stop warhammer online, althought they just delayed their open beat to the begining of Sept. that not a good sign when they are realsing it that same month either.....

No one wanted this game to succeed more than I, I've been a huge fan of all REH's works since I was a boy. Funcom has taken an engine which once had promise and flushed it down the toilet with a continual barrage of dishonesty, deceit, greed, incompetence, and ridiculous arrogance.

They can't patch this game, every time they try, it just breaks more things. On top of this, while completely ignoring numerous gamebreaking flaws, they nerf everything that could possibly upset every customer, (except 1, "TwistedBishop" Protus is that you?) . After nerfing they change or write out all their best lies/promises from the month before. Key game concepts written right on the box will never be seen in this game even if it does last the year.

I could list broken things about AOC all night, I could also go on at length about the forum censorship and outright abuse customers have suffered at the hands of Funcom. I could go on about the pathetic excuse for customer service that Funcom supplies. And I could list virtually every PR release the company has made and point out all the fraud this company has spewed forth with a smiling face.

The only reason I am still current on this situation is because funcom fraudlently billed me an extra month X3. They are too inept to even release my CC company has refused the charges, in fact I think my accounts are still open into the second month of cancellation. I am not alone, many people have complained of this double and triple billing. Worst case I saw and believe was a 6 month term being billed again on the same day as the account was banned, less than halfway through the first billing term. Fraud and deceit are commonplace with this company no wonder the CEO is jumping ship.

I completely agree with with the sentiments Tom-AZ has expressed, and while his comments regarding the lack of quests may be construed as less than fact, I feel exactly the same way, in comparison to earlier levels 40 + holds little interest. The only truly entertaining aspect of this game is watching them fail on their own forums

CEO dumps shares as the news of their epic failure hits the press. /delicious

Because Funcom is the first company to ever incorrectly bill someone, or balance classes after launch.

There is no excuse to the statement regarding quests stopping after level 35. It's completely wrong. There's no emotional component to it, no ambiguity. He lied.

AoC is far from dead and will be more alive then ever in 6 months or after the first expansion pack. Every MMO goes thru this even WoW did. People didnt like it and went back to EQ, UO or one of the many others. They did come back after a few bugs were fixed.

Ill be the first one to admit that AoC has a few more bugs than most at release (other then Vanguard) but it has more to offer than any other mmo. With the combat system and graphics you just cant beat it.

Ohh and him selling his stocks means nothing about the company.
If he sold them now and the company started to go under it would be insider trading and he would go to jail.

AOC is a great game some ppl are just to picky.

It's not insider trading. He very conveniently waited to sell right after the quarterly report was released. He sells when the stock is way down? If he had confidence in the stock going back up, why sell now. Because it probably won’t be going back up. I think the writing is on the wall. They have spent huge money developing AoC and are depending on it to fund future game development and it just isn’t going to be there long term.
